Background: Stigma is a pervasive and distressing problem experienced frequently by lung cancer patients, and there is a lack of psychosocial interventions that target the reduction of lung cancer stigma. Mindful self-compassion (MSC) is an empirically supported intervention demonstrated to increase self-compassion and reduce feelings of shame and distress in non-cancer populations. However, there are several anticipated challenges for delivering MSC to lung cancer patients, and modifications may be needed to improve acceptability, appropriateness, and feasibility.

Association between orthodontic treatment and psychosocial factors in adolescents: a cross-sectional study.

Background: Orthodontic treatment is one of the longest and most common medical interventions in adolescence. There are certain inequalities in care leading to risk factors associated with higher rates of untreated tooth malocclusion, resulting in a significant burden on oral health. Background: Seafarers are exposed to a variety of job-specific physical and psychosocial stressors. Health promotion on board is of great importance for the salutogenesis of this occupational group. Due to the difficult accessibility of seafarers, electronically supported health management can be highly valuable.

Modeling Pathways by which the Caregiver TLC Psychoeducational Program Impacts Psychological Health of Caregivers.

Background And Objectives: The study seeks to elucidate the pathways by which the Caregiver TLC psycho-educational program impacts the psychological health of caregivers by examining the degree to which changes in self-efficacy, personal gains, and emotional support mediate the changes on perceived depression, anxiety and burden.

Research Design And Methods: Using pre-post data from the Caregiver TLC randomized controlled trial (n = 81) for each outcome and mediator pair, a series of multiple regression models were executed to test the degree to which the program's total effects on changes in depression, burden and anxiety from baseline to post-intervention are due to changes in each mediator variable from pre- and post-intervention assessments. Caregivers were primarily female (85%), White (62 %), Black (38%), with a median age of 62 and household income of $75,000+.

Development and Validation of the Internalized Care Stigma Scale (ICSS): Measuring care stigma aimed at informal care for older adults in Germany.

Background And Objectives: In this study we developed and validated the Internalized Caregiver Stigma Scale (ICSS) to measure internalized stigma targeting informal care for older adults (≥60 years) in Germany.

Research Design And Methods: The ICSS scale was developed in the Attitudes Towards Informal Caregivers (ATTIC) project based on stigma theories and (cognitive) pretesting with informal caregivers. Informal long-term caregivers (aged ≥40 years; n=433) of older relatives (aged ≥60 years) were quota-sampled from the online panel GapFish in December 2023 (twice as many female and middle-aged (aged 40-64 years) caregivers than male and younger (18-39 years) or older adults (65+ years) were included in the sample).

A Comparison of In-Person and Telehealth Treatment Modalities using the SpeechVive Device.

Telehealth is increasing popular as a treatment option for people with Parkinson disease (PD). The SpeechVive device is a wearable device that uses the Lombard effect to help patients speak more loudly, slowly, and clearly. This study sought to examine the effectiveness of the device to improve communication in people with PD, delivered over a telehealth modality as compared to in-person, using implementation science design.

Building Responsive Intersectoral Initiatives for Newcomers in Toronto: Learning from Service Providers' Experiences in the Context of COVID‑19.

Newcomer populations in urban centers experienced an exacerbated effect of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‑19) due to their precarious living and working conditions. Addressing their needs requires holistic care provisioning, including psychosocial support, assistance to address food security, and educational and employment assistance. Intersectoral collaboration between the public and the community sector can reduce vulnerabilities experienced by these groups.

Adolescents' Diabetes Self-Management Regimens and Outcomes During the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Scoping Review.

Adolescents with diabetes mellitus (DM) experience poorer glycemic outcomes and lower adherence to self-management regimens compared to other age groups. The coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic posed new barriers to DM self-management, including social distancing measures and additional stressors. We conducted a scoping review of peer-reviewed literature to examine self-management regimens and outcomes among adolescents aged 10-17 years with type 1 and type 2 DM during the pandemic.

Background: Chronic emotional distress among cardiac arrest (CA) survivors and their caregivers is prevalent and worsens quality of life and recovery. Longitudinal Cross-Lagged Analysis Between Depressive Symptoms, Social Withdrawal, Self-Esteem, and School Adaptation in Multicultural Adolescents.

In Korea, as the number of multicultural families formed through the marriage of Korean men and foreign women from lower-income countries such as China, Southeast Asia, and Central Asia increases, the psychosocial adaptation of adolescents from these families is becoming increasingly important. This study examines the longitudinal and reciprocal relationships among depressive symptoms, social withdrawal, self-esteem, and school adaptation in multicultural adolescents in high schools. We applied an autoregressive cross-lagged model to a sample of 594 multicultural adolescents extracted from three consecutive years of data from the Multicultural Adolescents Panel Survey and found that depressive symptoms and school adaptation had reciprocal negative relationships in multicultural adolescents' first and second years of high school.

Historical redlining and survival among children, adolescents, and young adults with cancer diagnosed between 2000-2019 in Seattle and Tacoma, Washington.

Background: Historical redlining has been associated with inferior survival in adult-onset cancers. However, its relationship with pediatric, adolescent, and young-adult-onset cancer outcomes is unknown.

Methods: This study identified incident cancer among individuals <40 years of age living in Seattle and Tacoma between 2000-2019 via the population-based Cancer Surveillance System.

Therapeutic alliance in a stepped digital psychosocial intervention for breast cancer patients: findings from a multicentre randomised controlled trial.

Background: Action mechanisms of therapeutic alliance in stepped and digital interventions remain unclear.

Aims: (a) To compare the development of therapeutic alliance between psychosocial treatment as usual (PTAU) and a stepped digital intervention designed to prevent distress in cancer patients; (b) to analyse the level of agreement between patients' and therapists' therapeutic alliance ratings; and (c) to explore variables associated with therapeutic alliance in the digital intervention.

Method: A multicentre randomised controlled trial with 184 newly diagnosed breast cancer women was conducted.

Though social support in the broader population is related to better psychosocial outcomes, little work has examined the relationship between social support and patient-reported outcomes among women with infertility. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether perceived social support was associated with psychiatric symptoms, disordered eating, and substance use among women with an infertility diagnosis. Individuals who received a diagnosis of female-factor infertility ( = 188) completed measures of perceived social support, psychiatric symptoms, disordered eating, and substance use.

Assessment of quality of life and psychosocial problems in children with Congenital Heart Disease.

Objective: Congenital heart disease (CHD) is a condition that can significantly impact health-related quality of life due to the need for long-term follow-up and treatment. The purpose of this study was to analyse the quality of life of children diagnosed with CHD and to assess the relationship between the disease and their physical and mental well-being.

A Qualitative Analysis of Immigrant Latinx Housecleaners' Experiences of How Power Relations With "Employers" Influence Working Conditions in New York City: The Safe and Just Cleaners Study.

Background: Housecleaning work has been characterized as precarious employment with unstable work hours, arbitrary and low pay and benefits, and exposures to chemical, physical, and psychosocial stressors. Understanding how interpersonal power dynamics between workers and clients, a component of precarious work, contributes to work exposures can inform and improve prevention programs.

Methods: We used reflexive thematic analysis of data from seven focus groups with Latinx immigrant housecleaners in New York City to explore workers' experience of interpersonal power dynamics with their clients-whom they referred to as their "employers"-and its influences on working conditions.
