Real-world long-term outcomes of peripheral nerve stimulation: a prospective observational study.

Aim: We aimed to evaluate real-world outcomes of peripheral nerve stimulation (PNS) used to treat chronic neuropathic pain (CNP) at a tertiary pain management center.

Methods: Thirty adults who underwent PNS for CNP between June 2015 and September 2021 completed pain and psychosocial assessments in the 6 months before, and 2-3 years after PNS treatment. Pain intensity was measured using the NIH Patient Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) Pain Intensity Short From (3A).

Individuals exposed to disasters are at high risk of developing mental health conditions, yet the availability of mental health practitioners is often limited. The aim of this scoping review was to examine the quality of the evidence for psychosocial interventions that can be delivered by non-mental health workers in the context of disasters. Searches were performed in PsycInfo, EMBASE, Family & Society Studies Worldwide, CINAHL, Global Health, PubMed, and SCOPUS, from inception through to November 2024, to identify studies of relevance.

Engagement in a web-based intervention for individuals who committed sexual offenses against children: observational study.

Web-based interventions have been shown to be effective for various health and mental health problems. However, the effectiveness of interventions is often limited by the fact that individuals do not start or complete them. Using data from an intermediate analysis of the randomized placebo-controlled clinical trial to evaluate the effectiveness of @myTabu, the current study investigated engagement with a web-based intervention for 113 individuals convicted of child sexual abuse and/or for child sexual exploitation material.

Addressing unmet mental health needs of older adults in Turbo, Colombia: a multi-component psychosocial intervention feasibility study.

Background: Older adults have lived through extreme and stressful live events in Colombia, including during the armed conflict. Without adequate mental health resources in place, the aim of this study was to feasibility test a co-produced community-integrated intervention for older adults to improve their mental health and well-being in Turbo, Colombia.

Methods: Based on a systematic review and meta-analysis of community-based mental health interventions for older adults in LMICs, qualitative interviews with older adults and local stakeholders, as well as a mental health needs assessment survey of the local older adult population in Turbo, Colombia, we consulted older adults in the region to co-produce a community-based intervention.

The objective of the study was to assess how the mental health (MH)-specialized workforce met the demand for psychosocial services of Medicaid-insured children in Georgia, with direct relevance in establishing quantitative network adequacy.

Methods: We used the 2018 Medicaid (TAF) claims data, the 2018 National Plan and Provider Enumeration System database, and the 2019 Georgia school-based program data to estimate community-level demand and practice-level supply of psychosocial services.

This study examined stigma toward "persons with cancer" and "cancer survivors" among medicine and psychology students, focusing on the impact of labeling. Additionally, the study explored these students' subjective illness theories of cancer.

Family and genetic counseling in Leber hereditary optic neuropathy.

Aim: Leber hereditary optic neuropathy (LHON) predominantly manifests during adolescence or young adulthood, resulting in sudden and profound vision loss in individuals who previously had normal vision. This abrupt change significantly impacts daily life, necessitating emotional support, counseling and low-vision rehabilitative services to help affected individuals cope with the shock and adapt to their residual vision. The psychosocial burden of dealing with vision loss extends beyond the individuals directly affected by LHON, affecting matrilineal relatives who face the dual challenges of grieving for their loved one's vision loss and managing their own uncertainty about potential vision loss and its familial implications.

Effects of physical activity on patients with posttraumatic stress disorder: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.

Background: Although it is often known that physical activity can effectively reduce anxiety and despair, differing results have been found for patients with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms. This study sought to comprehensively examine how physical activity affected the quality of sleep, anxiety, sadness, and PTSD in individuals suffering from PTSD.

Methods: The Cochrane Library, PubMed, Web of Science, EMBASE, and Scopus databases in English were examined.

Objectives: Evidence regarding interventions to engage men and boys to improve sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) has grown rapidly across subtopics such as HIV, family planning and gender-based violence (GBV). We conducted a review of the effectiveness of interventions to engage men and boys across SRHR domains, lessons learnt about successful programming, and about harms/unintended consequences, in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC).

Background: Patients undergoing major lower extremity amputation (LEA) due to vascular disease face an increased risk of post-surgery anxiety and depression. The Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), widely used to identify anxiety and depressive symptoms, has been translated into Danish, but its content validity has not previously been tested in LEA patients. This study aims to test the validity and reliability of HADS in this population.

In this cross-sectional analysis, we explored how fluctuations in glycemic levels impact executive functions and psychosocial outcomes in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The goal was to understand the relationship between glycemic control and both neuropsychological and psychosocial health. The effect of a students led caregiving support program on depression, sleep quality and quality of life of the caregivers and patients with stroke.

Purpose: We aimed to provide care support to stroke patients and their caregivers and investigate this support's impact on the psychosocial characteristics of patients', caregivers', and volunteer students' depression, quality of life, and sleep quality.
