The prevalence of willingness to undergo renal transplantation and its potentially associated factors have been documented in multiple prior studies across different regions, yet certain findings are conflicting. The aim of this study was to determine the global prevalence of willingness for renal transplantation and identify its associated factors through meta-analysis methods. Databases such as Scopus, PubMed, and Embase were utilized for the search strategy, covering the period from April to May 2024.

Feasibility and pilot study of Indonesia's first telehealth support program for gynecological cancer survivors undergoing chemotherapy.

Most Indonesian gynecological cancer survivors experience chemotherapy side effects on their physical and mental health as they face unmet needs of supportive care, which increases the likelihood of discontinuing treatment. Interventions in telehealth assist survivors in resolving these issues. The aim of this pilot study was to determine the feasibility of fighting distress, self-efficacy, health effects, and sexual (FoRSHE-X) interventions and evaluate their potential impact on distress level, side effects knowledge and management, self-efficacy, and sexual quality of life.

Sleep quality and cognitive function on self-rated health status among the elderly: Findings from the Indonesian family life survey (IFLS-5).

The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of cognitive function and its associated factors among the elderly in the Indonesian family life survey's fifth wave (IFLS-5) conducted from 2014 to 2015. The study included elderly individuals aged 60 and above, excluding proxy respondents and those with missing data.

Enhancing oxytocin and prolactin levels to address oligogalactia through emotional management and massage in working mothers.

Emotional management, combined with oxytocin massage and breast care, offers a comprehensive approach to boost prolactin release, enhance milk production, and improve breastfeeding outcomes. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of combining emotional management with oxytocin massage and breast care in increasing oxytocin and prolactin hormone levels to address oligogalactia in working postpartum mothers. A quasi-experimental study was conducted at Kudus Community Health Center, Kudus Regency, Central Java, Indonesia, from January to March 2024.

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a global health concern, with a 10% global prevalence. Its prevalence may further increase in the coming decades, thereby increasing the risk of uremic xerosis. Approximately 50-90% of patients with CKD have xerosis, leading to pruritus that affects their quality of life due to sleep disturbances, anxiety, and depression.

Development of the Indonesian sexual quality of life scale for women (ISQOL-W).

Sexual quality of life is greatly influenced by sexual function, yet thorough measures remain limited and vary across regions. In Indonesia, diverse cultural and religious contexts notably shape sexual quality of life. Thus, it is important to have a tool that considers both internal and external aspects.

Employment of people with Down syndrome: A scoping review.

Down syndrome is the most prevalent genetic condition contributing to intellectual disability. Advancements in medical care have significantly increased the life expectancy of people with this condition, making employment a vital component for independent living and quality of life. The aim of this study was to examine the current literature on the employability and employment experiences of individuals with Down syndrome, focusing on the evolution of the employment rate and factors influencing employment such as cognitive and personal factors, societal attitudes, challenges, and effective support systems.

Effects of cholecalciferol supplementation on depressive symptoms, C-peptide, serotonin, and neurotrophin-3 in type 2 diabetes mellitus: A double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial.

The coexistence of depression and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) can significantly worsen disease prognosis and lower quality of life. Emerging evidence suggests that vitamin D deficiency contributes to the progression of T2DM and is closely associated with the development of depression. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of cholecalciferol on depression in patients with T2DM, exploring its mechanisms by analyzing its impact on C-peptide, serotonin, and neurotrophin-3 levels.

Networks of support: Microboards for children with intellectual disability.

Friendships are an important aspect of social inclusion and can have a positive influence on a child's social and emotional wellbeing beyond childhood. A Microboard is a formal approach to building supportive relationships for people with intellectual disability. Establishing a Microboard during childhood may facilitate a peer support network that endures into adulthood.

Siblings of adults with intellectual disabilities in Chinese societies: A scoping review.

Adult siblings without disabilities play important roles in relation to their brothers and sisters with intellectual disabilities. This study reviewed knowledge about adult sibling relationships in Chinese societies, where one sibling has intellectual disability. Five English and two Chinese databases were searched for publications published up to 2022.

Supporting healthy ageing for people with intellectual disabilities in group homes: Staff experiences.

Background: This study explores the perceptions of supported accommodation staff and their managers of the support needs of residents ageing with intellectual disabilities, and their experiences of adjusting services for this group in the context of individualised funding.

Method: Qualitative interviews were conducted with 21 staff working in Australian supported accommodation services.

Findings: Four themes emerged.

Stigmatising young people with intellectual disability: Perceptions of the main stakeholders at a Spanish university.

Background: One of the main challenges facing individuals with an intellectual disability is the stigma associated with the various obstacles that hinder their process of full integration. Despite the efforts made, more research is called for to explore the reference environments and reveal how public and self-stigma are perceived in higher education. This scientific paper's overriding aim is to analyse how different university stakeholders (students, lecturers, and admin and service staff) perceive the presence of young people with intellectual disability.

Challenges and strengths experienced by fetal alcohol spectrum disorder diagnostic clinics in Canada.

Background: The Canadian fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD) diagnostic guideline provides clinicians with the process and procedure to reach an accurate diagnosis. However, organisational structure, culture, and resource utilisation vary. The objectives of this study were to identify the key challenges and strengths of successful FASD diagnostic clinics.

The perspectives of agents working in positions of authority within health sector organisations regarding the involvement of experts by experience with an intellectual disability: An exploratory study.

Background: In this study, agents working in positions of authority within health sector organisations shared their perspectives concerning both the involvement of experts by experience with intellectual disabilities within their own organisations and their recommendations as to how best to involve experts by experience in policy and practice.

Method: Using purposive sampling, eight agents were selected for semi-structured interviews. The interviews were analysed using thematic analysis.

The experiences of parents arranging the move of their young adult offspring with intellectual disabilities to 24-hour residential settings; a continuing puzzle.

Background: Moving out of the family home is a key transition for people with intellectual disabilities and their families. Yet there has been little research about parents' experiences of planning the move of their young adult offspring to residential settings offering 24-hour support.

Method: Interviews were conducted with eleven parents whose offspring moved to residential settings within the past 5 years (five fathers; six mothers).

Initiatives to support the school-to-work transition of people with intellectual disabilities: a systematic review.

Background: People with intellectual disabilities may find difficulties in their school-to-work transition. The current study aimed to determine which factors have been investigated and which are relevant to this transition process.

Method: A systematic review was undertaken using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines and included studies published between 2011 and 2023 on initiatives that facilitate the school-to-work transition.

Participation in mainstream community groups by older United States adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities: A multiple case study.

Background: Adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities want to be included in all aspects of community life, but social inclusion continues to be very limited.

Method: We used a qualitative multiple case study to describe the experiences and perspectives of four older workers or retirees with intellectual and developmental disabilities aged 45 to 63 who each participated in a different socially inclusive community group.

Results: Three themes emerged: finding a good match; support for participation; and the outcomes of participating in a mainstream community group.

Parents' tacit knowledge of their child with profound intellectual and multiple disabilities: A qualitative study.

Background: Parents' tacit knowledge plays an important role in the care of persons with profound intellectual and multiple disabilities (PIMD). As little is known about its nature and use, we aimed to explore this parental tacit knowledge.

Method: We conducted semi-structured interviews with parents ( = 11) about their tacit knowledge of their child, based upon video recordings they made of their child's behaviour, and analysed the data thematically.

Measurement properties of the German version of the Cambridge examination for mental disorders of older people with Down syndrome and others with intellectual disabilities (CAMDEX-DS).

Background: The CAMDEX-DS is an instrument to diagnose Alzheimer's disease (AD) in Down syndrome consisting of an informant interview and a cognitive test battery (CAMCOG-DS). Measurement properties of the German CAMDEX-DS were investigated.

Method: Fifty-five adults with Down syndrome (19-58 years) participated in this observational study.

Relatives' experiences of quality of healthcare services for adults with profound intellectual and multiple disabilities in Sweden.

Introduction: There is little research regarding quality of health care for people with profound intellectual and multiple disabilities (PIMD), who often are represented by their relatives, because of their limited communication. The aim of this study was to explore experiences and perspectives of relatives regarding healthcare services for adults with PIMD.

Method: Twelve semi-structured telephone interviews were conducted involving close relatives of people with PIMD: mothers ( = 7), fathers ( = 2), brothers ( = 2) and a sister ( = 1).

Interdisciplinarity and self-injury: Toward an inclusive research and treatment paradigm.

Background: Historically, the research and treatment of self-injury has been disciplinarily siloed. As a result, the behaviour is understood and treated differently among individuals with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities. We explore the potential for an interdisciplinary research and practice agenda in self-injury.

Inclusive mainstream services for people with intellectual disabilities: A relational approach.

Background: Despite growing recognition of their right for inclusion in society, people with intellectual disabilities are often excluded from mainstream services, or experience poor service outcomes.

Method: Taking a relational approach that considers the interpersonal relations and interactions that occur in mainstream service settings in Australia, this paper examines the features of services that research participants considered more inclusive.

Results: Relations between service users with and without intellectual disabilities, mainstream service staff and disability support workers in inclusive mainstream services were characterised by; respect; warm, welcoming and convivial interpersonal engagement; active listening; proactive assistance; flexibility; mediation to create a safe environment; and collaboration and shared responsibility by both mainstream staff and disability support workers in supporting a service user with intellectual disability.

Work stress and professional quality of life in disability support workers: The mediating role of psychological flexibility.

Background: This study aimed to explore perceived work stress and its association with burnout, compassion fatigue, and compassion satisfaction and the mediating effect of psychological flexibility on these relationships.

Method: Two hundred and fifty-one disability support workers across Australia reported on work stress, psychological flexibility, burnout, compassion fatigue, and compassion satisfaction through an online anonymous survey.

Results: Perceived work stress was found to have a significant relationship with burnout, compassion fatigue, and compassion satisfaction.

Health-related quality of life of children and adolescents with one vs. multiple disabilities - Are there differences from the parents' perspective?

Background: Multiple disabilities represent separate entities that cannot be reduced to the sum of disabilities or the main disability. This study compared the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) of children and adolescents with multiple disabilities and those with one developmental disability. We further assessed how comorbidities and guardianship type affected HRQoL.
