Background: A healthy diet during pregnancy is vital for the well-being of both mothers and babies. However, navigating dietary choices amidst the unique psychological and physiological changes of pregnancy can be challenging. Empowerment, defined as the ability to improve capacities, critically analyse situations, and take actions to improve them, can support pregnant women to make healthier choices.

Background: Although Internet has become the main way of access to health and medical information for most young people today, it might not be the case with older people. The elderly that have difficulty using the Internet rely largely on their family members to obtain and evaluate online health and medical information.

The relationship between perceived stress and job burnout of police officers during the COVID-19 pandemic: the mediating role of social support, sleep quality and resilience.

Background: With the rapid spread of Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in China, police officers were undergoing higher job stress, which made them physically and mentally exhausted, eventually leading to job burnout. The research aims to explore the mediating role of social support, psychological resilience, and sleep quality in the relationship between perceived stress and burnout.

Methods: Data collection was based on multistage cluster random sampling of police in Wuhan, China, from June 2021 to October 2022.

Background: The promotion of a healthy lifestyle among preschool children is essential for establishing their future habits. Evidence indicates that the incorporation of philosophical thinking-encompassing critical, creative, and compassionate thought-can significantly contribute to children's cognitive and moral growth, thereby positively affecting their health-related decisions. This research evaluated the effects of imparting healthy lifestyle practices through philosophical thinking to preschool children.

Correlates of internalized stigma and antiretroviral therapy adherence among people living with HIV in the Volta region of Ghana.

Objective: HIV-related stigma is a major public health concern compromising the rights and health outcomes of many people living with HIV (PLWH). Its reduction is said to be critical in strengthening the continuous efforts targeted at preventing and controlling HIV, as it directly impacts antiretroviral treatment adherence. This study examines the association between HIV-related stigma and adherence to antiretroviral therapy (ART) among PLWH in one of the 16 administrative regions of Ghana, Africa.

Decision-making regarding place of end-of-life care for children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions: a systematic integrative review.

Background: Due to medical advancements the number of children living with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions is rising, meaning more children and their families will require palliative and end-of-life care in the future. While 'home' is often the preferred place of end-of-life care, the evidence around best practice for decision-making about place of end-of-life care remains inadequate.

Aim: To synthesise evidence on the factors influencing decision-making regarding place of end-of-life care for children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions.

A systematic review of the clinical practice guidelines for the assessment, management and treatment of eating disorders during the perinatal period.

Background: Eating disorders during the perinatal period can pose significant risks to both the mother and the baby. Clinical practice guidelines include statements of expected practice intending to improve effectiveness and quality of care within health care services. This systematic review aimed to identify and synthesise current clinical practice guideline recommendations on the assessment, management and treatment of eating disorders during the perinatal period.

Protocol for visual-acoustic intervention with service delivery in-person and via telepractice (VISIT) non-inferiority trial for residual speech sound disorder.

Background: Residual speech sound disorder (RSSD) is a high-prevalence condition that negatively impacts social and academic participation. Telepractice service delivery has the potential to expand access to technology-enhanced intervention methods that can help remediate RSSD, but it is not known whether remote service delivery is associated with a reduction in the efficacy of these methods. This project will systematically measure the outcomes of visual-acoustic biofeedback intervention when delivered in-person or online.

Persistent depressive symptom trajectory is associated with cognitive impairment: a population-based longitudinal study of aging in Taiwan.

Background: To investigate the associations between five depressive symptom trajectories and cognitive impairment in Taiwan's older population. In addition, we investigated the moderating factors influencing these associations.

Methods: This population-based, longitudinal, cohort study was conducted on the basis of the Taiwan Longitudinal Study on Aging.

Assessment of the quality of life in metastatic colorectal cancer patients with KRAS gene mutant: a case-control study.

Background: The mutation of the KRAS (Kirsten rat sarcoma virus) gene is a prevalent genetic alteration in metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC). According to previous research, this mutation significantly affects clinical outcomes and quality of life (QOL). This research investigated the association between KRAS mutant status and various aspects of QOL in mCRC patients.

The effect of transcranial direct current stimulation and inhibitory control training on depression and anxiety among post-stroke individuals.

Background: Recent research has highlighted the role of fronto-parietal brain networks and cognitive control in mood disorders. Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) and computer-based cognitive training are used in post-stroke rehabilitation. This study examined the combined effects ofof computer-based inhibitory control training (ICCT) and anodal tDCS on post-stroke depression and anxiety.

Headache after pediatric traumatic brain injury: a comparison between a post-acute sample of children and adolescents and general population.

Background: Headache is one of the most common post-concussion symptoms following pediatric traumatic brain injury (TBI). To better understand its impact on young individuals, this study aims to investigate the prevalence of headache in a German-speaking post-acute pediatric TBI sample and compare it with the general population. In addition, factors associated with the development of pediatric post-TBI headache are investigated to improve the understanding of this condition.

Experience-driven suppression of irrelevant distractor locations is context dependent.

Humans can learn to attentionally suppress salient, irrelevant information when it consistently appears at a predictable location. While this ability confers behavioral benefits by reducing distraction, the full scope of its utility is unknown. As people locomote and/or shift between task contexts, known-to-be-irrelevant locations may change from moment to moment.

Factors Associated with Low/Moderate Perceived Risk for HIV Acquisition Among Gay, Bisexual, and Other Men Who Have Sex with Men Eligible to Use Pre-exposure Prophylaxis from Brazil, Mexico, and Peru.

Perceived risk for HIV acquisition among gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (GBMSM) may not align with their actual sexual HIV exposure. Factors associated with low/moderate perceived risk among GBMSM eligible for pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) (based on their high estimated HIV exposure) have been poorly described in Latin America. This is a secondary analysis of a 2018 web-based cross-sectional survey in Brazil, Mexico, and Peru.

Daily and Prospective Associations Between Responses to Sexual Rejection and Sexual Well-Being and Relationship Satisfaction in Couples Coping with Sexual Interest/Arousal Disorder.

Prior cross-sectional research established that four distinct responses to sexual rejection are associated with sexual and relationship well-being among couples affected by Sexual Interest/Arousal Disorder (SIAD). Examining these associations daily and prospectively will provide insight into within-person variations, temporality, and directionality. Women and gender-diverse individuals diagnosed with SIAD and their partners (N = 232 couples) completed a baseline survey, 56-day diary, and 6-month follow-up survey, assessing responses to sexual rejection, sexual satisfaction, dyadic sexual desire, sexual distress, and relationship satisfaction.

EmoAtlas: An emotional network analyzer of texts that merges psychological lexicons, artificial intelligence, and network science.

We introduce EmoAtlas, a computational library/framework extracting emotions and syntactic/semantic word associations from texts. EmoAtlas combines interpretable artificial intelligence (AI) for syntactic parsing in 18 languages and psychologically validated lexicons for detecting the eight emotions in Plutchik's theory. We show that EmoAtlas can match or surpass transformer-based natural language processing techniques, BERT or large language models like ChatGPT 3.

The trajectory of crime: Integrating mouse-tracking into concealed memory detection.

The autobiographical implicit association test (aIAT) is an approach of memory detection that can be used to identify true autobiographical memories. This study incorporates mouse-tracking (MT) into aIAT, which offers a more robust technique of memory detection. Participants were assigned to mock crime and then performed the aIAT with MT.

Individual differences in intolerance of uncertainty is primarily linked to the structure of inferior frontal regions.

Increased intolerance of uncertainty (IU), or distress felt when encountering situations with unknown outcomes, occurs transdiagnostically across various forms of psychopathology and is targeted in therapeutic intervention. Increased intolerance of uncertainty shows overlap with symptoms of internalizing disorders, such as depression and anxiety, including negative affect and anxious apprehension (worry). While neuroanatomical correlates of IU have been reported, previous investigations have not disentangled the specific neural substrates of IU above and beyond any overlapping relationships with aspects of internalizing psychopathology.
