HIV Prevention in Syringe Service Programs Since the Start of COVID-19: Where Do We Go From Here?

Purpose: This narrative review addresses post-2020, specific, complex challenges for use of and adherence to pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV prevention among out-of-treatment people who use drugs (PWUD) at syringe services programs (SSPs).

Recent Findings: The COVID-19 pandemic and its associated changes to the provision of healthcare have significantly impacted HIV prevention, especially for PWUD. Through a synthesis of literature and clinical experience, we (1) characterize the operational changes imposed by the pandemic on SSPs that shaped the current HIV prevention landscape; (2) describe three levels of current challenges for PWUD, including consumer attitudes, non-medical and medical provider attitudes, and structural and scalability barriers; (3) characterize current models for PrEP in SSPs; and (4) offer practical recommendations for HIV prevention in harm reduction programs.

The use of antidepressant medications in the treatment of lichen simplex chronicus (LSC) also known as neurodermatitis, is not well-documented in the literature. The primary aim of our study is to evaluate the impact of duloxetine 30 mg on the quality of life in patients with LSC, focusing on both pruritus and psychopathological aspects. The secondary aim is to investigate the relationship between LSC and anxiety and depression.

Research on the cerebellum and its functional organization has significantly expanded over the last decades, expanding our comprehension of its role far beyond motor control, including critical contributions to cognition and affective processing. Notably, the cerebellar lateralization mirrors contralateral brain lateralization, a complex phenomenon that remains unexplored, especially across different stages of life. The present work aims to bridge this gap by providing a comprehensive scoping review of the lateralization of motor, cognitive, and affective functioning within the cerebellum across the lifespan.

Background: In multiple sclerosis (MS), susceptibility-weighted imaging (SWI) may reveal white matter lesions (WML) with a paramagnetic rim ("paramagnetic rim lesions" [PRLs]) or diffuse hypointensity ("core-sign lesions"), reflecting different stages of WML evolution.

Objective: Using the soma and neurite density imaging (SANDI) model on diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), we characterized microstructural abnormalities of MS PRLs and core-sign lesions and their clinical relevance.

Aim: As part of the development of a smartphone-based app for monitoring MS disease activity and progression (dreaMS, NCT05009160), we developed six gamified tests with multiple difficulty levels as a monitoring tool for cognition. NNFit: A Self-Supervised Deep Learning Method for Accelerated Quantification of High- Resolution Short Echo Time MR Spectroscopy Datasets.

Purpose To develop and evaluate the performance of NNFit, a self-supervised deep-learning method for quantification of high-resolution short echo-time (TE) echo-planar spectroscopic imaging (EPSI) datasets, with the goal of addressing the computational bottleneck of conventional spectral quantification methods in the clinical workflow. Materials and Methods This retrospective study included 89 short-TE whole-brain EPSI/GRAPPA scans from clinical trials for glioblastoma (Trial 1, May 2014-October 2018) and major-depressive-disorder (Trial 2, 2022- 2023). Sociocultural factors play a significant role in the development of body image distress and disordered eating behavior in diverse populations, including men. One group which seems to be at increased risk, is sexual minority men. However, these factors have rarely been studied outside of Western populations.

Innovating to amplify the voices of young people from marginalized ethnic migrant backgrounds.

The meaningful participation of young people from marginalized ethnic backgrounds in civic processes is central to the social cohesion of increasingly diverse liberal democracies, but their participation is compromised by a range of barriers resulting in decision-making that is disconnected from their lives. To address participation barriers, a group of young people from marginalized ethnic migrant backgrounds joined a team of researchers, social innovators, and community leaders to co-design and pilot an innovation to increase youth participation in policymaking. Delivered in phases over an 18-month period, the project followed an approach that combined social innovation and evaluation methods.
