: Cardiovascular diseases are one of the leading causes of hospitalization and death in Poland and around the world and are still an ongoing problem for modern medicine. Despite advances in diagnosis and treatment, both conservative and invasive, the prevention of cardiovascular disease directed at reducing risk factors remains a problem. The main classical risk factors for the development of cardiovascular disease in Poland include hypertension, lipid disorders, obesity, diabetes and smoking.

Objective: Our objective was to evaluate the trajectory of immunology in patients with HIV with different baseline CD4 T-cell count strata after antiretroviral therapy (ART) under long-term viral suppression.
Methods: This was a sub-analysis focused on patients with virological suppression for at least 5 years after ART. Data were obtained from the Yunnan HIV cohort in China.

Purpose: In this prospective study, the diagnosis accuracy of nanopore sequencing-based Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) detection was determined through examining bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) samples from pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) -suspected patients. Compared the diagnostic performance of nanopore sequencing, mycobacterial growth indicator tube (MGIT) culture and Xpert MTB/rifampin resistance (MTB/RIF) assays.
Methods: Specimens collected from suspected PTB cases across China from September 2021 to April 2022 were tested then assay diagnostic accuracy rates were compared.

This study aimed to compare the efficacy and effect on lipid profiles of Ainuovirine (ANV)- and efavirenz (EFV) -based regimens in treatment-naïve people living with HIV-1 (PLWH) at week 24. The proportion of PLWH achieving HIV-1 RNA < the limit of quantification in the ANV group was significantly higher than that in the EFV group (89.18% vs.

Background: The treatment and prognosis of patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) have been a major medical challenge. Unraveling the landscape of tumor immune infiltrating cells (TIICs) in the immune microenvironment of HCC is of great significance to probe the molecular mechanisms.
Methods: Based on single-cell data of HCC, the cell landscape was revealed from the perspective of TIICs.

Background: Complex cellular signaling network in the tumor microenvironment (TME) could serve as an indicator for the prognostic classification of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients.
Methods: Univariate Cox regression analysis was performed to screen prognosis-related TME-related genes (TRGs), based on which HCC samples were clustered by running non-negative matrix factorization (NMF) algorithm. Furthermore, the correlation between different molecular HCC subtypes and immune cell infiltration level was analyzed.

Objective: To investigate the short-term efficacy and safety of different chemotherapy regimens combined with thalidomide, in the treatment of low-income patients with newly diagnosed HIV-associated diffuse large B-cell lymphoma.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed on 42 patients with HIV-DLBCL who were admitted to the Infectious Diseases Department of Yunnan Provincial Infectious Diseases Hospital from January 2018 to December 2020. 14 cases (including 1 case in stage II and 13 cases in stage III/IV) were treated with R-CHOP, 24 cases (including 1 case in stage II and 23 cases in stage III/IV) were treated with R-DAEPOCH, and 4 cases (including 1 case in stage II and 3 cases in stage III/IV) were treated with EPOCH.

Ainuovirine (ANV), a novel non-nucleoside reverse-transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI), was approved in China in 2021. In a previous randomized phase 3 trial, ANV demonstrated non-inferior efficacy relative to efavirenz (EFV) and was associated with lower rates of dyslipidemia. In this study, we aimed to explore lipid changes in treatment-experienced people with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-1 (PWH) switching to ANV from EFV in real world.

Apart from mediating viral entry, the function of the free HIV-1 envelope protein (gp120) has yet to be elucidated. Our group previously showed that EP2 derived from one β-strand in gp120 can form amyloid fibrils that increase HIV-1 infectivity. Importantly, gp120 contains ~30 β-strands.

Aims: To explore tyrosine metabolism-related characteristics in liver hepatocellular carcinoma (LIHC) and to establish a risk signature for the prognostic prediction of LIHC. Novel prognostic signatures contribute to the mining of novel biomarkers, which are essential for the construction of a precision medicine system for LIHC and the improvement of survival.
Background: Tyrosine metabolism plays a critical role in the initiation and development of LIHC.

HIV-infected individuals are susceptible to () infection and are at high risk of developing active tuberculosis (TB). Interferon-gamma release assays (IGRAs) are auxiliary tools in the diagnosis of TB. However, the performance of IGRAs in HIV-infected individuals is suboptimal, which limits clinical application.

Unlabelled: This study aimed to assess the efficacy of currently used anti-diabetic medications in the treatment of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) without diabetes.
Design: The efficacy of various anti-diabetic medicines on non-alcoholic fatty liver disease in the absence of diabetes was evaluated by searching Pubmed, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science for randomized controlled trials (RCT) only. The methodological quality was evaluated using the Revised Cochrane risk-of-bias tool for randomized trials (RoB2), and the data were analyzed using Stata software (version 15.

The emerging SARS-CoV-2 variants, commonly with many mutations in S1 subunit of spike (S) protein are weakening the efficacy of the current vaccines and antibody therapeutics. This calls for the variant-proof SARS-CoV-2 vaccines targeting the more conserved regions in S protein. Here, we designed a recombinant subunit vaccine, HR121, targeting the conserved HR1 domain in S2 subunit of S protein.

Hepatitis C infection is one of the main reasons for liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. In recent years, more and more is being heard about extrahepatic manifestations of the hepatitis C infection including its possible influence on the development of hypertension and cardiovascular diseases. In the given work, the frequency analysis of the incidence of hypertension and cardiovascular diseases among 2898 HCV-infected patients treated in Poland and the assessment of their relevance to the HCV genotype and the progression of liver fibrosis can be found.

Background: The mortality rate remains high among patients with coinfection with Pneumocystis pneumonia (PCP) and HIV. The timing for initiation of antiretroviral therapy (ART) after a diagnosis of moderate to severe PCP remains controversial, however. We therefore designed the present study to determine the optimal timing for ART initiation in AIDS-associated PCP (AIDS/PCP) patients.

Background: HIV viral load (VL) is an important indicator to monitor treatment response in antiretroviral therapy (ART). Patients on ART may experience viral blips, with low-level elevations of VL between 50 and 999 copies/mL known as low-level viraemia (LLV), but not reaching the threshold for virological failure (≥1,000 copies/mL) defined by WHO guidelines. The objective was to investigate the long-term impact of LLV on virological failure.

Background: The prevalence of comorbid depressive and anxiety disorders in people living with HIV (PLWH) is high. However, it is unclear which symptom is the bridge symptom between depression and anxiety in PLWH. This study aimed to develop symptom networks for depression and anxiety and explore the bridge symptoms and interconnectedness between these disorders in PLWH with comorbid depressive and anxiety disorders.
