Twenty years of anastomotic stenosis combined with tracheocolonic fistula after colon replacement esophagectomy: a case report.

Esophageal stricture is the most common and disabling complication of esophageal injury caused by ingestion of corrosive substances. In our case, the patient developed esophageal stenosis due to ingestion of strong alkaline substances and underwent colon replacement surgery after repeated failed dilation treatments. After surgery, anastomotic stenosis and tracheocolonic fistula occurred successively, and the entire diagnosis and treatment cycle of this disease lasted for more than 20 years.

Nanotechnology for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Liver Cancer.

Liver cancer has become a major global health challenge due to its high incidence, high rate of late diagnosis and limited treatment options. Although there are many clinical treatments available for liver cancer, the cure rate is still very low, and now researchers have begun to explore new aspects of liver cancer treatment, and nanotechnology has shown great potential for improving diagnostic accuracy and therapeutic efficacy and is therefore a promising treatment option. In diagnosis, nanomaterials such as gold nanoparticles, magnetic nanoparticles, and silver nanoparticles can realize highly sensitive and specific detection of liver cancer biomarkers, supporting diagnosis and real-time monitoring of the disease process.

Study protocol: A national cross-sectional study on psychology and behavior investigation of Chinese residents in 2023.

Introduction: This study protocol specifies the primary research line and theoretical framework of the 2023 Survey of the Psychology and Behavior of the Chinese Population. It aims to establish a consistent database of Chinese residents' psychological and behavioral surveys through multi-center and large-sample cross-sectional surveys to provide robust data support for developing research in related fields. It will track the public's physical and psychological health more comprehensively and systematically.

Exploration of subgroups and associated factors of the uncertainty in illness among older adults with chronic heart failure: A latent profile analysis.

Background: Uncertainty in illness is regarded as a source of stress, and tends to have adverse consequences on quality of life among older adults with chronic heart failure (CHF).

Objective: The purpose of this study was to identify distinct subgroups in uncertainty in illness, and to explore associated factors within the population of older adults with CHF.

Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study using convenience sampling to survey 311 hospitalized older adults with CHF.

Cubital Tunnel Syndrome Due to Intraneural Ganglion Cysts of the Ulnar Nerve With Joint-Cyst Connection at the Elbow.

Background And Objectives: The unifying articular theory suggests that intraneural ganglion cysts in the cubital tunnel arise from the elbow joint and are connected to the ulnar nerve through an articular branch. This study aimed to report our clinical experience with these cysts and our surgical findings and outcomes.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 13 patients who underwent surgery for cubital tunnel syndrome caused by an intraneural ganglion cyst of the ulnar nerve.

The Chinese Guidelines for Ultrasound-guided Thermal Ablation of Thyroid Nodules (2024 edition) were jointly initiated by the Ultrasound Committee of Chinese Medical Association, the Interventional Ultrasound Committee of Chinese Association of Ultrasound in Medicine and Engineering, the Ultrasonic Intervention Committee of Chinese Colleges of Interventionalists, the Oncological Intervention Committee of Chinese Research Hospital Association, 37 multidisciplinary experts in interventional ultrasound, ultrasound medicine, endocrinology and thyroid surgery participated in the compilation of this guide, which expanded the depth and breadth of the perspective and enhanced the authority of the guide. Based on the systematic review of literatures related to ultrasound-guided thermal ablation of thyroid nodules and the professional opinions of experts, the guidelines define the indications and contraindications of thermal ablation, including pre-ablation evaluation and preparation, thermal ablation techniques and operational procedures, post-ablation follow-up, therapeutic effect evaluation, complications prevention and treatment, and the writing of medical documents for ablation. According to the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE), a total of 17 objective and comprehensive recommendations were given.

Exosome-derived miR-107 targeting caveolin-1 promotes gallstone progression by regulating the hepatobiliary cholesterol secretion pathway.

Cholesterol gallstone is a disease with high incidence and quality of life. This study aimed to investigate the function of exosome-derived miRNA in gallstone formation and its related molecular mechanism. Exosomes were extracted and isolated from patients with gallbladder stones and age- and gender-matched healthy controls, and exosomal miRNA expression was compared between the two groups.

Background: Inflammatory stress at the maternal-fetal interface plays an important role in the occurrence and development of preeclampsia(PE) caused by different etiologies. Many pathological neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) at the maternal-fetal interface are believed to be among the main pathogenic factors leading to preeclampsia and the worsening of its symptoms. However, the underlying mechanism is largely unclear.

Background: Intracranial radiation in combination with EGFR targeted therapy demonstrated signals of superiority to EGFR targeted therapy alone based on several observational studies. The timing based on specific criteria is not clear, and we evaluated the efficacy of intervention timing of craniocerebral radiotherapy (RT) combined with epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors (EGFR-TKIs) on prognosis of patients with EGFR mutant lung adenocarcinoma complicated with brain metastasis.

Methods: In total, 603 patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) harboring EGFR mutations were enrolled in this retrospective study between March 2008-September 2023.

Family resilience is critical for families recovering and growing from a cancer crisis; however, there remains a lack of universal family resilience assessment tools for families of patients with cancer. This study aimed to modify the Family Resilience Assessment Scale (FRA) and examine its psychometric properties. First, the FRA scale was modified into the Family Resilience Assessment Scale for Family Cancer (FRAS-FC) based on cultural adaptations and cancer population applicability.
