Acute myocardial infarction has increasingly become a global health problem and is a primary cause of cardiovascular disease-related death. Although long noncoding RNAs have been reported to play an important role in various cardiovascular diseases, their protective effects on cardiomyocytes against reactive oxygen species-induced oxidative injury have nonetheless been poorly studied. The present study aims to explore the effect of a novel long noncoding RNA, NONHSAT098487.

Department of Endocrine and Metabolic Diseases, Shanghai Institute of Endocrine and Metabolic Diseases, Ruijin Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Shanghai, China.

Importance: Spouses share common socioeconomic, environmental, and lifestyle factors, and multiple studies have found that spousal diabetes status was associated with diabetes prevalence. But the association of spousal diabetes status and ideal cardiovascular health metrics (ICVHMs) assessed by the American Heart Association's Life's Essential 8 measures with incident diabetes has not been comprehensively characterized, especially in large-scale cohort studies.

Objective: To explore the association of spousal diabetes status and cardiovascular health metrics with risk of incident diabetes in Chinese adults.

Methotrexate, etoposide, dexamethasone, and pegaspargase (MESA) with sandwiched radiotherapy is known to be effective for early-stage extranodal natural killer/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type (NKTCL). We explored the efficacy and safety of reduced-intensity, non-intravenous etoposide, dexamethasone, and pegaspargase (ESA) with sandwiched radiotherapy. This multicenter, randomized, phase III trial enrolled patients aged between 14 and 70 years with newly diagnosed early-stage nasal NKTCL from 27 centers in China.

Kawasaki disease (KD) is a form of idiopathic vasculitis frequently accompanied by coronary artery lesions, which involves endothelial dysfunction. Recent studies have demonstrated that circular RNAs (circRNAs) are implicated in many cardiovascular diseases. However, few studies have examined the role of circRNAs on endothelial dysfunction in KD.

Treatment of kidney and ureter multiple calculi is a difficult procedure in urology. It is especially difficult to eliminate the high burden stones in a one-stage operation. When a patient has had only one kidney since he/she was born (a condition termed 'solitary kidney'), the conservation of the renal function is especially important.

Purpose: The prediction of axillary lymph node status after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) becoming critical because of the advocation of the de-escalation of axillary management. We investigate associated factors of axillary upstaging in clinical node-negative (cN0) breast cancer patients receiving NAC to develop and validate an accurate prediction nomogram.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 1892 breast cancer patients with stage of cT1-3N0 treated by NAC and subsequent surgery between 2010 and 2020 in twenty hospitals across China.

Background: The intraoperative localization of nonpalpable pulmonary nodules for thoracoscopic wedge resection is technically challenging. Current preoperative image-guided localization techniques require additional time, costs, procedural risks, advanced facilities, and well-trained operators. In this study, we explored a cost-effective method of well-matched interaction between virtuality and reality for accurate intraoperative localization.

April 2023

Department of Orthopaedics, Union Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Jiefang Avenue No.1277, Wuhan, Hubei, 430022, People's Republic of China.

Background: To compare the biomechanical properties and stability, using a finite element model, of four fixation constructs used for the treatment of anterior column and posterior hemi-transverse (ACPHT) acetabular fractures under two physiological loading conditions (standing and sitting).

Methods: A finite element model simulating ACPHT acetabular fractures was created for four different scenarios: a suprapectineal plate combined with posterior column and infra-acetabular screws (SP-PS-IS); an infrapectineal plate combined with posterior column and infra-acetabular screws (IP-PS-IS); a special infrapectineal quadrilateral surface buttress plate (IQP); and a suprapectineal plate combined with a posterior column plate (SP-PP). Three-dimensional finite element stress analysis was performed on these models with a load of 700 N in standing and sitting positions.

Remodeling articular immune homeostasis with an efferocytosis-informed nanoimitator mitigates rheumatoid arthritis in mice.

Massive intra-articular infiltration of proinflammatory macrophages is a prominent feature of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) lesions, which are thought to underlie articular immune dysfunction, severe synovitis and ultimately joint erosion. Here we report an efferocytosis-informed nanoimitator (EINI) for in situ targeted reprogramming of synovial inflammatory macrophages (SIMs) that thwarts their autoimmune attack and reestablishes articular immune homeostasis, which mitigates RA. The EINI consists of a drug-based core with an oxidative stress-responsive phosphatidylserine (PtdSer) corona and a shell composed of a P-selectin-blocking motif, low molecular weight heparin (LMWH).
