The real world COVID-19 vaccine effectiveness among the urban underserved Hispanic/Latino populations is unknown. We evaluated the mRNA vaccine effectiveness in preventing SARS-CoV-2 infections at a major federally qualified health center in Providence, Rhode Island, and a total of 38,602 patients were included. Time period was used as the SARS-CoV-2 variant proxy.

Integrated behavioral health (IBH) embeds behavioral health clinicians in primary care settings to improve access and quality of care. This study investigates whether co-located IBH impacts knowledge and experiences of behavioral healthcare, particularly for individuals with limited English proficiency (LEP). 330 patients were recruited from the waiting rooms of a federally qualified health center to answer multiple-choice and Likert scale questions about behavioral healthcare.

Hispanic/Latino populations are disproportionately impacted by coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the United States. The impact of state reopening on COVID-19 in this population after stay-at-home orders is unknown. We evaluated the incidence, prevalence and trends during reopening of severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) at a major federally qualified health centre in Providence, Rhode Island.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has resulted in a global pandemic, and there is limited data on effective therapies. Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) vaccine, a live-attenuated strain derived from an isolate of Mycobacterium bovis and originally designed to prevent tuberculosis, has shown some efficacy against infection with unrelated pathogens. In this study, we reviewed 120 consecutive adult patients (≥18 years old) with COVID-19 at a major federally qualified health centre in Rhode Island, United States from 19 March to 29 April 2020.

The association between thyroid disorders and breast cancer remains controversial, in part, due to small cohort sizes and inconsistent findings. We investigated this association in postmenopausal women to determine whether hyper- or hypothyroidism is associated with the risk of developing breast cancer and to determine whether menopausal hormone therapy (MHT) further modifies the risk. We conducted a prospective cohort study of multiethnic U.

Importance: Physician attitudes about websites that publicly report health care quality and experience data have not been recently described.
Objectives: To examine physician attitudes about the accuracy of websites that report information about quality of care and patient experience and to describe physician beliefs about the helpfulness of these data for patients choosing a physician.
Design, Participants, And Measures: The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) and a multi-stakeholder group developed and piloted two questions that were added to RIDOH's biennial physician survey of all 4197 practicing physicians in Rhode Island: (1) "How accurate of a picture do you feel that the following types of online resources give about the quality of care that physicians provide?" (with choices) and (2) "Which types of physician-specific information (i.

Importance: Thyroid hormones have been shown to affect several important pathways in cancer development, including colorectal cancer (CRC). Clinical studies examining the association between thyroid disorders and colorectal cancer have conflicting results and have predominantly involved white populations.
Objective: To determine if a diagnosis of hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism is associated with the risk of developing colorectal cancer in an East Asian population.

Medicine has a complex history of mishandling the concept of race. This is a crucial time for the field of obstetrics and gynecology to address racial and ethnic disparities. In this commentary, we address misconceptions about race, show how race can be misused in research and clinical care, and suggest new standards to guide authors as they conduct research on disparities and race.

Background: Overuse running injury susceptibility has previously been associated with the magnitude and slope of ground reaction force profiles, most often in the vertical axis. However, despite the implications of excessive pronation and supination on injury susceptibility, very little research has examined the factors that might affect distribution of force in the medial-lateral directions.
Research Question: The purpose of this study was to consider how foot structure, specifically arch flexibility, affects the distribution of ground reaction force between the medial-lateral and vertical planes of motion.

Objective: To determine if there are significant differences between universities in the proclivity to choose Family and Community Medicine (FCM), given the constraints imposed by the number of choice. To test the hypothesis that the Schools of Medicine that have the FCM as a compulsory subject in the degree (3 of 27) had the highest preference for this specialty.
Design: Observational study on the data file of all the individuals taking the MIR examination between 2003 and 2011.
