Introduction: Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is a combination of hormonal, metabolic and clinical disorders. Currently, MetS in men is considered as one of the main risk factors for the development of cardiovascular diseases, insulin resistance, and pathology of the reproductive system.
Aim: To study the effect of a complex of folic acid, L-carnitine, vitamin E, zinc and selenium, which are part of the biologically active food supplement "Speroton", on the parameters of carbohydrate and lipid metabolism in men with MetS, especially in the early stages of its development, as well as on erectile function and quality of life of patients.
On December 18, 2020, an expert council was held with the participation of members of the Russian Society of Cardiology, the Eurasian Association of Ther-apists, the National Society for Atherothrombosis, the National Society for Evi-dence-Based Pharmacotherapy, and the Russian Heart Failure Society. The event was devoted to the discussion of the correct use of research data of "real clinical practice" in decision making.

A review of the literature dedicated to the economic aspects of drug and surgical treatment of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is presented in the article. Currently, symptomatic therapy, which usually leads to an increase in the financial costs associated with the complications and surgical treatment, is most commonly used. The pathogenetic treatment of BPH (5-alpha reductase inhibitors), including combination therapy, requires an increase in costs, but it is also considered the most cost-effective approach.

A review of the techniques used by Nizhny Novgorod forensic physicians in studying the possibility of using biochemical methods in expert practice is presented. Changes at the molecular level in pathological conditions precede functional and morphological disorders in tissues and organs. The use of biochemical methods - in particular, the study of the concentration of myoglobin and substances of low and medium molecular weight - significantly expands the possibilities of forensic-medical ekspertise.
