An evaluation of the knowledge, opinions, expectations and concerns toward pharmacogenomics among Jordanian pharmacists.

Aim: To assess the knowledge of Jordanian pharmacists in pharmacogenomics, in addition to their attitudes, concerns, expectations and willingness to take further training.

Methods: A survey was distributed face to face to pharmacists practicing in three Jordanian cities in different practice settings.

Results: A total of (128) questionnaires were collected.

Metformin in the treatment of clomiphene citrate-resistant women with polycystic ovary syndrome undergoing in vitro fertilisation treatment: a randomised controlled trial.

This study was conducted to determine the efficacy of metformin vs placebo in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) undergoing IVF treatment. A total of 66 CC-resistant patients were studied prospectively. The women were randomly assigned to receive 850 mg of metformin (n = 34) or placebo (n = 32) twice daily that started 1 month before commencing the IVF treatment and continued to the day of the pregnancy test.

The objective of this study was to determine the views and compliance of a group of pregnant women regarding obstetric-related blood transfusion. In this prospective questionnaire-based analysis, a total of 300 pregnant women who attended the antenatal care clinic were included. The mean age and gestational age of patients were 31.

Primary ovarian pregnancy after the empty follicle syndrome: a case report.

A 32-year-old nulligravida woman underwent in vitro fertilization treatment because of 6 years of unexplained infertility. On the day of ovum pick-up, no eggs were retrieved and the patient was diagnosed to have empty follicle syndrome. Six weeks later, she presented with left lower abdominal pain and mild vaginal bleeding.

This report is to illustrate two cases of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome following the sole administration of injectable mid-luteal gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonists (triptorelin) for pituitary down-regulation. Both women underwent egg retrieval, and despite the transfer of good quality embryos, no pregnancy was achieved. The possible mechanism and management of the condition were discussed.
