Background: To analyze the relationship between Chinese Visceral Adiposity Index (CVAI) and stroke in Pudong New Area, and to provide a scientific basis for the prevention and treatment of this condition.
Materials And Methods: Based on the Follow-up Cohort Program of Chronic Disease Risk Factors in Pudong New Area, a total of 7,194 residents from 12 townships and 35 village committees or neighborhood committees were selected. The cohort data in 2016 served as the baseline, and a follow-up was conducted on 5462 individuals from 2019 to 2020.

Background: Evidence links lifestyle factors with Alzheimer's disease (AD). We report the first randomized, controlled clinical trial to determine if intensive lifestyle changes may beneficially affect the progression of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or early dementia due to AD.
Methods: A 1:1 multicenter randomized controlled phase 2 trial, ages 45-90 with MCI or early dementia due to AD and a Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) score of 18 or higher.

Lifestyle Medicine (LM) is a rapidly growing discipline that focuses on the role of lifestyle factors in preventing, managing, and reversing chronic disease. At this point in the field's evolution, there is strong evidence that the 6 pillars of LM-a whole-food, plant-predominant eating pattern, physical activity, restorative sleep, stress management, avoidance of risky substances, and positive social connections-are central in the creation and maintenance of health. Previous publications, many of them randomized controlled studies and meta-analyses, have solidified the evidence base for the use of the 6 pillars within the field of LM.

Traditional cardiac rehabilitation (CR) programs historically have had considerable gender gaps in CR outcomes. Intensive-Cardiac-Rehabilitation (ICR) has nonexercise components such as stress management, peer support and diet modification, in addition to exercise, which may reduce barriers to CR completion. However, there is a paucity of data in ICR outcomes based on gender.

BMI may play a protective role in reducing the mortality rate of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), but its effect on acute exacerbation of COPD remain unclear. Subjects were selected from the COPD patients registration system established in 2014 in Pudong new district, Shanghai. COPD patients from 8 communities were selected by cluster sampling and follow up was conducted prospectively for 18 months.

In cardiology clinic visits, the discussion of optimal dietary patterns for prevention and management of cardiovascular disease is usually very limited. Herein, we explore the benefits and risks of various dietary patterns, including intermittent fasting, low carbohydrate, Paleolithic, whole food plant-based diet, and Mediterranean dietary patterns within the context of cardiovascular disease to empower clinicians with the evidence and information they need to maximally benefit their patients.

Each year, patients are bombarded with diverging and even contradictory reports concerning the impact of certain additives, foods, and nutrients on cardiovascular health and its risk factors. Accordingly, this third review of nutrition controversies examines the impact of artificial sweeteners, cacao, soy, plant-based meats, nitrates, and meats from grass compared to grain-fed animals on cardiovascular and other health outcomes with the goal of optimizing clinician-led diet counseling.

Purpose: Poor sleep quality and pain were common and had been proved as an important influenced factor of quality of life for patients with COPD. The association of sleep quality with pain has been observed in other population but remains unclear in mild patients with COPD from a community setting.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted to include eligible mild patients with COPD in Pudong New District of Shanghai.

The secondary prevention (SP) of coronary heart disease (CHD) has become a major public health and economic burden worldwide. In the United States, the prevalence of CHD has risen to 18 million, the incidence of recurrent myocardial infarctions (MI) remains high, and related healthcare costs are projected to double by 2035. In the last decade, practice guidelines and performance measures for the SP of CHD have increasingly emphasized evidence-based lifestyle (LS) interventions, including healthy dietary patterns, regular exercise, smoking cessation, weight management, depression screening, and enrollment in cardiac rehabilitation.

Purpose Of Review: To review evidence-based lifestyle modification strategies for secondary prevention and explore how they are incorporated in traditional cardiac rehabilitation (CR) and intensive cardiac rehabilitation (ICR) programs.
Recent Findings: While physical activity is an important element of cardiac rehabilitation, more recent studies support a variety of methods, including stress management and plant-based diets, to reduce cardiovascular risk factors. Patients who participate in traditional CR programs demonstrate clinical improvement, which are significantly greater in intensive CR (ICR).

The potential cardiovascular (CV) benefits of many trending foods and dietary patterns are still incompletely understood, and scientific inquiry continues to evolve. In the meantime, however, a number of controversial dietary patterns, foods, and nutrients have received significant media attention and are mired by "hype." This second review addresses some of the more recent popular foods and dietary patterns that are recommended for CV health to provide clinicians with current information for patient discussions in the clinical setting.

Aims: Due to the diversity of the Chinese population, it requires considerable research to evaluate HbA1c diagnostic threshold for diagnosis of hyperglycemia.
Methods: We included 7909 subjects aged ≥15 without known diabetes from the baseline of Pudong community cohort in 2013. Participants took oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) and HbA1c assay.

Background: Telomere shortness in human beings is a prognostic marker of ageing, disease, and premature morbidity. We previously found an association between 3 months of comprehensive lifestyle changes and increased telomerase activity in human immune-system cells. We followed up participants to investigate long-term effects.

Cross-sectional studies have reported inverse associations of B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) with the body mass index (BMI). We evaluated whether changes in the BMI are associated with changes in BNP. A nested prospective cohort study of a lifestyle intervention (low-fat, whole-foods diet, exercise, stress management, and social support) was conducted.
