Non-midline abdominal wall hernias present unique anatomic challenges, making repair more complex. The constraints of the peritoneal cavity, pelvis, and costal margin limit the utility of intraperitoneal mesh repair, and extra-peritoneal repairs have traditionally been performed using open techniques, often resulting in higher wound morbidity. Advances in minimally invasive surgery make visualization and dissection of such complex cases feasible, with all the attendant benefits of a minimally invasive over an open approach.

Traditional preventive management of patients suffering from a minor ischemic stroke and/or transient ischemic attack indicated dual antiplatelet agents for 90 days. Newer clinical trial data suggest that therapeutic effectiveness is reached much sooner than previous guideline recommendations. Continued use of dual antiplatelet therapy beyond newly studied durations of efficacy has shown an increased risk in hemorrhagic complications with little to no additional preventive benefit.

The terms and are evolving as the pharmacy profession transforms into a wide-ranging field of highly trained individuals. In a crowded job market, students are seeking opportunities to utilize their training beyond traditional patient care roles. As pharmacy colleges and schools update curricula to reflect current practice and drive this transformation, they are faced with the challenge to accommodate student interest in these growing nontraditional areas with the limit of two non-patient-care elective advanced pharmacy practice experiences (APPEs).

Higuchi's method of determining fractal dimension is an important, well-used, research tool that, compared to many other methods, gives rapid, efficient, and robust estimations for the range of possible fractal dimensions. One major shortcoming in applying the method is the correct choice of tuning parameter ( ); a poor choice can generate spurious results, and there is no agreed upon methodology to solve this issue. We analyze multiple instances of synthetic fractal signals to minimize an error metric.

We examined the extent to which trait narcissism was associated with helping behavior during the COVID-19 pandemic. We hypothesized that people higher in agentic grandiose narcissism would help during the COVID-19 quarantine for egoistic reasons and that communal grandiose narcissists would help because they care for the people in the community. Because vulnerable narcissists tend to self-protect, we expected them to be less helpful overall and report helping to either make themselves feel better or avoid social disapproval.

Many patients face a financial burden due to their medications, which may lead to poor health outcomes. The behaviors of non-adherence due to financial difficulties, known as cost-related medication non-adherence (CRN), include taking smaller doses of drugs, skipping doses to make prescriptions last longer, or delaying prescriptions. To date, the prevalence of CRN remains unknown, and there are few studies about the association of CRN on self-reported healthcare utilization (Emergency room (ER) visits and outpatient visits) and self-reported health outcomes (health status and disability status) among older adults taking antidepressants.

High-deductible health plans (HDHPs) are characterized by higher deductibles and lower monthly premiums compared with a typical health plan. HDHPs may reduce, or delay, needed care, which will ultimately lead to poorer access to care for chronically affected participants. To (1) investigate the HDHP enrollment trend and (2) determine the effects of HDHPs on financial access problems for individuals with self-reported cognitive impairment.
