Background: Haemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) is a life-threatening disease with a historically poor prognosis in children receiving maintenance kidney replacement therapy (KRT). This study aimed to analyse the incidence and outcome of chronic kidney disease stage 5 (CKD5) due to Escherichia coli-HUS (STEC-HUS) and complement-mediated HUS (CM-HUS) in children, compared with controls with non-HUS CKD5 over the last 24 years.
Methods: The study included 1488 children undergoing KRT in Poland between 2000 and 2023.

Breast cancer is a prevalent and aggressive disease characterized by high metastasis, recurrence, and mortality rates. While cisplatin is an effective chemotherapy drug, its use is limited by its toxic effects on the body. Despite advancements in therapeutic strategies, the therapeutic response is often unsatisfactory due to drug resistance, leading to poor prognosis.

Background: Current guidelines do not recommend β-blockers in pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) unless indicated by comorbidities. However, the evidence regarding the role of β-blockers in PAH is contradictory.
Research Question: What are the effects of β-blockers on clinical outcomes in patients newly diagnosed with PAH, and how do these outcomes differ based on the presence of cardiovascular comorbidities that are standard indications for β-blocker use?
Study Design And Methods: We analyzed data from 806 patients newly diagnosed with PAH enrolled prospectively in the Database of Pulmonary Hypertension in the Polish Population (BNP-PL).

Background: The transcription factor Signal Transducer and Activator of Transcription 3 (STAT3) plays a role in carcinogenesis and is involved in processes, such as proliferation, differentiation, drug resistance and immunosuppression. STAT3 can be activated by phosphorylation of tyrosine at position 705 (pSTAT3) or serine at 727 (pSTAT3). High expression levels of pSTAT3 are implicated in advanced stages of prostate cancer (PCa) and are known to interact with the androgen receptor signaling pathway.

Chalcone is an aromatic ketone that forms the central core of many important biological compounds. Chalcone derivatives show various biological activities, especially anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antioxidant, and anticancer activities, and also inhibit melanoma cell growth. In this study, we synthesized chalcone compounds with -chalcone's chemical structure under microwave (MW) and microwave-ultrasound (MW-US) conditions and compared them to chalcones produced using the classical synthesis method.
