The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare has the potential to revolutionize the global healthcare sector and medicine in general. However, integrating AI technologies in healthcare requires access to large amounts of personal health-related data (HRD), which raises concerns regarding confidential personal information considering unregulated and not transparent data ownership. Setting up the patient's welfare as an unquestionable principle, this commentary explores the various ethical aspects of using HRD in AI applications, focusing on informed consent, data ownership, data sharing, financial considerations, accountability, and ethical standards.

Despite a higher safety profile compared to vitamin K antagonists, rivaroxaban therapy is still connected with multiple adverse effects, such as a high risk of bleeding. Thus, therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) of rivaroxaban concentrations is suggested. An alternative to plasma samples can be dried blood spots (DBS), which minimize the cost of sample storage and transport.

: Multiple risk factors for coronary artery disease have been identified without answering one of the leading questions related to the extent of the involvement of the epicardial arteries. Trace elements are involved in various stages of atherosclerotic lesion formation and may play a significant role in the advancement of coronary artery disease. : A total of 157 (92 (59%) men and 65 (41%) women) patients with a median age of 71 (65-75) years presenting with chronic coronary syndrome were enrolled in the prospective single-center analysis.

In end-stage heart failure, which is characterized by persistent or progressive ventricular dysfunction despite optimal medical therapy, a left ventricular assist device (LVAD) can be beneficial. Congestive heart failure provokes inflammatory and prothrombotic activation. The aim of this study was to evaluate the serum concentration of citrullinated histone 3 (CH3) representing neutrophil extracellular trap (NET) formation in patients referred for LVAD implantation.

The pursuit of novel or modified substances based on a natural origin, like flavonoids, is essential in addressing the increasing number of diseases and bacterial resistance to antibiotics, as well as in maintaining intestinal balance and enhancing overall gut health. The primary goal of this research was to evaluate the impact of specific flavonoid compounds-chalcones, flavanones, and flavones-substituted with -Br, -Cl, -CH, and -NO on both pathogenic and probiotic microorganisms. Additionally, this study aimed to understand these compounds' influence on standardized normal and pathologically altered intestinal microbiomes.

Patients with cyanosis secondary to congenital heart disease (CHD) are characterized by erythrocytosis and increased blood viscosity, which contribute to endothelial dysfunction, increased arterial stiffness, and impaired vascular function, which may affect the final clinical presentation. Asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA) and e-selectin (e-sel) are valuable biomarkers for endothelial and vascular dysfunction. Their concentration levels in blood serum have the potential to be an accessible tool that reflects the severity of the disease.

Background: It is unclear whether targeted monitoring of acute adrenal insufficiency (AI) related adverse events (AE) such as sick day episodes (SDEs) and hospitalization rate in congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) is associated with a change in the occurrence of these events.
Aim: Study temporal trends of AI related AE in the I-CAH Registry.
Methods: In 2022, data on the occurrence of AI-related AE in children aged <18 years with 21-hydroxylase deficiency CAH were compared to data collected in 2019.

The intricate development and physiological dynamics of the mammary glands, orchestrated by a delicate interplay of hormones, are crucial for reproductive function and lactation. Beginning with intrauterine clusters evolving into mature glands, hormonal fluctuations throughout puberty and the menstrual cycle finely tune mammary tissue growth. Oestrogens stimulate the proliferation of epithelial cells, while progesterone orchestrates the formation of lactiferous glands.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a leading cause of non-traumatic disability in young adults. The highly dynamic nature of MS lesions has made them difficult to study using traditional histopathology due to the specificity of current stains. This requires numerous stains to track and study demyelinating activity in MS.
