Adenomyosis is a poorly understood gynecological disorder lacking effective treatments. Controversy persists regarding "invagination" and "metaplasia" theories. The endometrial-myometrial junction (EMJ) connects the endometrium and myometrium and is important for diagnosing and classifying adenomyosis, but its in-depth study is just beginning.

Purpose: This study aimed to assess the utility of 6 serum tumor markers in prognosis between gastric adenocarcinoma and gastric signet ring cell carcinoma (SRCC).
Methods: A cohort of 3131 cases of gastric adenocarcinoma and 275 cases of gastric SRCC was assembled. The serum levels of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA19-9), carbohydrate antigen 125, alpha fetoprotein (AFP), carbohydrate antigen 242 (CA242), and carbohydrate antigen 724 (CA724) were measured in all cases.

The Comprehensive Dietary Antioxidant Index (CDAI) plays a crucial role as an indicator of diets rich in antioxidants. Despite its importance, the clinical significance of CDAI concerning olfactory dysfunction (OD) remains unknown. Our study aims to investigate whether there is an association between CDAI and OD within the general adult population aged 20 years and older.

In the 8th edition of the American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) staging system for Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC), tumors exhibiting main bronchial infiltration (MBI) near the carina and those presenting with complete lung obstructive pneumonia/atelectasis (P/ATL) have been reclassified from T3 to T2. Our investigation into the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database, spanning from 2007 to 2015 and adjusted via Propensity Score Matching (PSM) for additional variables, disclosed a notably inferior overall survival (OS) for patients afflicted with these conditions. Specifically, individuals with P/ATL experienced a median OS of 12 months compared to 15 months (p < 0.

Multiport robots are now widely used for total gastrectomy for gastric cancer, while there is almost a void of research on whether single-port (SP) robots can be used for total gastrectomy. Here, we report a case of a 75-year-old female patient who was diagnosed with gastric cardia adenocarcinoma by gastroscopy and underwent total gastrectomy assisted by the SHURUI SP robot. We successfully accomplished total gastrectomy and D2 lymph node dissection using the novel SP robotic platform.

Diffuse midline glioma with H3K27 M alteration is a primary malignant tumor located along the linear structure of the brain, predominantly manifesting in children and adolescents. The mortality rate is exceptionally high, with a mere 1 % 5-year survival rate for newly diagnosed patients. Beyond conventional surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy, novel approaches are imperative to enhance patient prognosis.

Optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA), as a new generation of non-invasive and efficient fundus imaging technology, can provide non-invasive assessment of vascular lesions in the retina and choroid. In terms of anatomy and development, the retina is referred to as an extension of the central nervous system (CNS). CNS diseases are closely related to changes in fundus structure and blood vessels, and direct visualization of fundus structure and blood vessels provides an effective "window" for CNS research.

Granulocytic myeloid-derived suppressor cells (G-MDSCs) are one of the main subgroups of MDSCs, which are widely enriched in most cancers. It can inhibit the killing function of T-lymphocyte through the expression of arginase-1 (Arg-1) and reactive oxygen species (ROS), reshape the tumor immune microenvironment, and promote the occurrence and development of tumors. In recent years, more and more studies have found that G-MDSCs are significantly correlated with the prognosis and immunotherapy efficacy of patients with non-small cell lung cancer, and the use of drugs specifically targeting the recruitment, differentiation and function of G-MDSCs can effectively inhibit tumor progression.

Introduction: Immunotherapy is one of the major breakthroughs in the treatment of cancer, and it has become a powerful clinical strategy, however, not all patients respond to immune checkpoint blockade and other immunotherapy strategies. Applying machine learning (ML) techniques to predict the efficacy of cancer immunotherapy is useful for clinical decision-making.
Areas Covered: Applying ML including deep learning (DL) in radiomics, pathomics, tumor microenvironment (TME) and immune-related genes analysis to predict immunotherapy efficacy.

The tumor microenvironment (TME), which is mostly composed of tumor cells, immune cells, signaling molecules, stromal tissue, and the vascular system, is an integrated system that is conducive to the formation of tumors. TME heterogeneity makes the response to immunotherapy different in different tumors, such as "immune-cold" and "immune-hot" tumors. Tumor-associated macrophages, myeloid-derived suppressor cells, and regulatory T cells are the major suppressive immune cells and their different phenotypes interact and influence cancer cells by secreting different signaling factors, thus playing a key role in the formation of the TME as well as in the initiation, growth, and metastasis of cancer cells.

Epigenetic regulation contributes to the dysregulation of gene expression involved in cancer biology. Nevertheless, the roles of epigenetic regulators (ERs) in tumor immunity and immune response remain basically unclear. Here, we developed the epigenetic regulator in immunology (EPRIM) approach to identify immune-related ERs and comprehensively dissected the ER regulation in tumor immune response across 33 cancers.

Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) is a highly aggressive type of adenocarcinoma distinguished by its invasiveness. Depending on specific anatomical positioning within the biliary tree, CCA can be categorized into intrahepatic CCA (ICCA), perihilar CCA (pCCA) and distal CCA (dCCA). In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the global prevalence of CCA.

Background: Anus preservation has been a challenge in the treatment of patients with low rectal adenocarcinoma (within 5 cm from the anal verge) because it is difficult to spare the anus with its functioning sphincter complex under the safe margin of tumour resection. Patients with dMMR/MSI-H can achieve a favourable complete response (CR) rate by using a single immune checkpoint inhibitor. For patients with pMMR/MSS/MSI-L, intensified neoadjuvant three-drug chemotherapy may be the preferred option for anal preservation.

Tuberculous meningitis (TBM) is not only one of the most fatal forms of tuberculosis, but also a major public health concern worldwide, presenting grave clinical challenges due to its nonspecific symptoms and the urgent need for timely intervention. The severity and the rapid progression of TBM underscore the necessity of early and accurate diagnosis to prevent irreversible neurological deficits and reduce mortality rates. Traditional diagnostic methods, reliant primarily on clinical findings and cerebrospinal fluid analysis, often falter in delivering timely and conclusive results.
