Unlabelled: Community-acquired methicillin resistant (CA-MRSA) strains are increasingly replacing hospital-acquired MRSA (HA-MRSA) strains in hospitalized patients leading to poor clinical outcomes. Hence, this study aimed to characterize clinical isolates of MRSA (HA-MRSA and CA-MRSA) and to understand their clonal origin. A total of 400 consecutive clinical isolates were collected from the clinical bacteriology lab of a tertiary care hospital.

Background: Various methods are available to screen for allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA) in asthma, but their comparative performance remains uncertain.
Objectives: To identify the optimal screening algorithm for ABPA in asthmatic patients and evaluate the crude cost of various diagnostic approaches.
Methods: We performed a post hoc analysis of prospectively collected data from consecutive adult asthmatic patients evaluated for ABPA.

Purpose: Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) reactivation in allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HCT) recipients can lead to significant complications including post-transplant lymphoproliferative disease. Despite progress in managing EBV reactivation in allo-HCT recipients, data on clinical characteristics and prognostic implications of EBV viral load remain limited. Here, we aim to evaluate the prevalence, identify risk factors, and assess the clinical implications of EBV-DNA positivity in allo-HCT recipients.

We describe a rare case of cutaneous phaeohyphomycosis by Veronaea botryosa in a renal transplant recipient from India. The patient presented with a nodule on the dorsum of right hand which resolved completely after 6 months of voriconazole therapy. The identity of the fungus was confirmed by sequencing internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region of rDNA.

Microbial biofilms are intricate communities that pose significant challenges in clinical and microbiological settings due to their resistance to antibiotics and immune responses. Advanced microscopy techniques, such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM), and fluorescence microscopy, are often employed to visualize and differentiate between these biofilms. However, these methods are not feasible in all laboratories because of their high cost and complexity.

Purpose: The information on the practice of radiotherapy, including intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) use for rectal cancer in India, is lacking. This national survey was planned to understand the current status of knowledge, attitudes, and practice among radiation oncologists, specifically concerning the practice of IMRT for rectal cancers.
Materials And Methods: A national survey was sent to radiation oncologists through e-mail or a WhatsApp message, where feasible, with a request letter containing the link to the survey questionnaire.

Breast cancer, more prevalent in women, often arises due to abnormalities in the MRN-checkpoint sensor genes (MRN-CSG), responsible for DNA damage detection and repair. Abnormality in this complex is due to the suppression of various effectors such as siRNAs, miRNAs, and transcriptional factors responsible for breast tumor progression. This study analyzed breast tumor samples (n = 60) and identified four common miRNAs (miR-1-3p, miR-210-3p, miR-16-5p, miR-34a-5p) out of 12, exploring their interactions with MRN-CSG.

The impact of T-regulatory cells (Tregs), PD-1 + CD8 T-cells, and their dynamics during treatment with imatinib mesylate remains poorly understood in patients with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). We conducted a prospective study on newly diagnosed, treatment-naïve adult (> 18 years old) patients with CML in the chronic phase (CP) and age- and sex-matched controls. Peripheral blood samples were collected at diagnosis and after three months of imatinib therapy to assess Tregs and PD-1 + CD8 T-cell levels using flow cytometry.

This report summarizes the key findings of a workshop undertaken at the International Child Neurology Congress in 2024 by child neurologists with expertise in training education and invested colleagues. The workshop aimed to explore global issues which have impact on access to child neurology training. The major findings supported a great need for more training programs globally, that consensus is needed for the minimum standards of training, and that training programs can be strengthened via global health partnerships especially with collaborations from regions with more available resources.
