Bilateral Anti-VEGF on Same-Day-Investigation on Safety in Retinopathy of Prematurity: A Multicenter Retrospective Study.

Purpose: To report an incidence of procedure-related complications in preterm infants with retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) treated with intravitreal anti-VEGFs injection in both eyes on the same day.

Design: Retrospective, multicenter case series.

Subjects: Preterm infants with ROP treated with anti-VEGF bilaterally on the same day.

Late oral adverse effects of chemotherapy for hematological malignancies in children: A systematic review and meta-analysis of case-control studies.

Background: The purpose of the present systematic review and meta-analyses was to appraise the case-control studies that have evaluated late adverse effects of chemotherapy for treating hematological malignancies in pediatric patients.

Methods: Five electronic databases along with grey literature were searched using broad keywords and MeSH terms for the articles that could meet the eligibility criteria. The Newcastle-Ottawa Scale was employed for quality assessment.

Harnessing the power of : Anti-cancer properties and Wnt pathway modulation in hepatocellular carcinoma.

In this manuscript, we comment on the article, which explores the anti-cancer effects of (CB) in tumor biology. We highlight its potential, particularly in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), where it inhibits the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase/protein kinase B/mammalian target of rapamycin pathways and induces apoptosis. CB contains compounds such as oleanolic acid and ursolic acid that target interleukin-6, mitogen-activated protein kinase 8, vascular endothelial growth factor, and caspase-3, offering anti-inflammatory and hepatoprotective benefits.

5A's Behavior Change Model Improves Nutrition Knowledge and Intake Among Adolescent Athletes.

This study compared the effects of 12 weeks of intensive nutrition education (IE) using the 5A's behavioral change model and basic nutrition education (BE) on nutritional knowledge and nutrient intake among Korean adolescent athletes. This study included elite adolescent athletes (IE group: n = 65, BE group: n = 65) at a physical education high school in Seoul. In this prospective, randomized, controlled trial, the athletes' body composition, nutritional knowledge, nutrient intake, and self-management practices were evaluated at the beginning and end of the intervention.

Tropical Animal Health and Production is a journal founded 55 years ago. It is dedicated to the publication of results of original research, investigation, and observation in all fields of animal health, welfare and production which may lead to improved health and productivity of livestock and better utilization of animal resources in tropical, subtropical and similar environments. Research is in strong alignment with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, particularly No Poverty, Zero Hunger, and Good Health and Well-being.

Predictors for Irreversibility of Contrast-Induced Acute Kidney Injury in Patients with Obesity After Contrast-Enhanced Computed Tomography Coronary Angiography.

Introduction: Although contrast-induced (CI) acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common complication in high-risk individuals requiring evaluation with contrast-enhanced angiography, the possible predictors of CI-AKI in patients with obesity are not fully understood. The aim of this study was to elucidate plausible factors associated with the irreversibility of CI-AKI in individuals with obesity undergoing contrast-enhanced computed tomography coronary angiography.

Methods: A total of 96 adult patients with obesity and the KDIGO criteria of CI-AKI (increase of serum levels of creatinine ≥ 25% or ≥ 500 µmol/L at 48 h after procedure) were retrospectively screened from the cohort of 1833 patients who underwent iodine contrast medium (ICM)-enhanced computed tomography coronary angiography, and were included in the study.

The article presents analysis of results of three-year (2019-2022) studying level of loyalty of legal representatives of patients of one of Moscow children polyclinics. The study covered both legal representatives of patients (more than 190,000 assessments collected over entire observation period) and randomly selected district pediatricians (n=31).

Analysis of the Abasic Sites in Breast Cancer Patients With 5 Year Postoperative Treatment Without Recurrence in Taiwan.

Purpose: This prospective study aimed to investigate estrogen-induced carcinogenesis by assessing the background levels of abasic sites (apurinic/apyrimidinic sites, AP sites) in Taiwanese breast cancer patients following 5 years of postoperative treatment without recurrence (5-year survivors) (n = 70). The study also sought to compare the extent of these DNA lesions with those found in healthy controls and in breast cancer patients prior to treatment.

Methods: Abasic sites were measured using an aldehyde reactive probe and quantified as the total number of abasic sites per total nucleotides.

Resilience factors affecting long-term trajectories of depressive symptoms in the aftermath of the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami among older adults.

Objectives: We examined long-term trajectories of depressive symptoms among older adults following exposure to the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami. We further characterized the pre- and post-disaster social relationship factors that predicted membership in each trajectory group.

Method: Data from four time points (including pre-disaster data) were used to analyze the depression trajectories of 2,033 survivors through a group-based trajectory model.

The Frozen Elephant Trunk Procedure-8 Years of Experience from Poland.

The frozen elephant trunk method combines the implantation of a Dacron prosthesis with a self-expanding stent graft, which allows for complex repairs of the aortic arch and thoracic aorta in one procedure. Despite the advantages of hybrid treatment for aortic arch aneurysms, in Poland, only a few such surgeries are performed annually compared to in Western countries. The aim of this study was to demonstrate the 8-year outcomes of treatment at the center where the Aortic Team operates, which is one of the centers in Poland with the most extensive experience in hybrid FET treatment.

A novel cricoid pressure sensor device enhances the efficacy of oesophageal occlusion during Sellick's manoeuvre: A randomised controlled trial.

Background: The inability to measure the force applied during cricoid pressure is an important limitation in clinical practice. We developed a novel device to measure this force and provide real-time feedback to the operator.

Objectives: To test the hypothesis of superior oesophageal occlusion during cricoid pressure when guided by the novel device as compared with conventional practice.

Developmental and Epileptic Encephalopathies: Need for Bridging the Gaps Between Clinical Syndromes and Underlying Genetic Etiologies.

Advancement in genetic testing has become increasingly important in diagnosing and managing developmental and epileptic encephalopathies (DEEs), a group of rare neurodevelopmental disorders characterized by early-onset seizures, developmental delay, and electroencephalographic (EEG) abnormalities. These early epileptic encephalopathies are often described as various syndromes as per their clearly defined, relatively uniform, and distinct clinical phenotypes with consistent EEG and/or neuroimaging findings. Finding the underlying molecular mechanisms can cause a definitive change in the management strategy.

Current and Future Perspectives of PDL1 PET and SPECT Imaging.

Programmed Death 1 (PD1) and Programmed Death Ligand (PDL1) play a crucial role in tumor microenvironment by helping cancer cells evade innate immunity. Numerous inhibitor anticancer drugs targeting this interplay have been used in clinical practice and many more are in preclinical stage. These drugs have shown promising results in achieving good response and long-term clinical benefit, is routinely performed to identify patients who may benefit.

Long-Term Outcomes of Stereotactic Radiosurgery for Pineocytomas: An International Multicenter Study.

Background And Objectives: Pineocytomas are grade 1 tumors arising from the pineal parenchyma. Gross total resection can potentially cure these benign lesions but can be associated with morbidity. This study was designed to provide multi-institutional data to evaluate the results of stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) for pineocytomas.
