A young man in his late 30s with a history of pulmonary tuberculosis presented with complaints of hoarseness of voice persisting for 6 months. Chest auscultation revealed diminished breath sounds over the right lung field. An initial chest X-ray showed collapse of the right lung with mediastinal shift towards right.

Progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) has emerged as a key area of interest among researchers worldwide, including those in India, who have actively studied the disorder over the past several decades. This review meticulously explores the extensive range of Indian research on PSP up to the present and offers insights into both current initiatives and potential future directions for managing PSP within the region. Historical research contributions have spanned 80 publications from 1974 to 2023, encompassing diverse themes from clinical phenotyping and historical analysis to isolated investigative studies and therapeutic trials.

Association of hTERT MNS16A polymorphism with clinical outcomes of North Indian lung cancer patients undergoing platinum-based doublet chemotherapy.

Background: Telomerase has been linked to aging and cancer. The MNS16A polymorphism in the hTERT gene plays a significant role in modulating telomerase activity and highlights the complexity of telomere-related genetics in cancer research.

Experimental Design: We genotyped 401 lung-cancer samples treated with platinum-based chemotherapy to identify the MNS16A polymorphism.

Prevalence of neck pain among unilateral upper limb amputees: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: Neck pain is a significant health concern for unilateral upper limb amputees (UULAs), affecting their functional status and quality of life.

Objectives: To address the neck pain burden that is adding to UULA's pre-existing disability and help Physical therapists to judiciously design and execute effective therapeutic strategies.

Methods: We searched databases for articles till October 23, 2023, and included primary studies reporting neck pain prevalence among UULAs.

Impact of COVID-19 pandemic on HTAsiaLink network members.

Objectives: This study investigates the impact of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic on HTAsiaLink members at the organizational level and provides recommendations for mitigating similar challenges in the future.

Methods: A survey was disseminated among HTAsiaLink members to assess the COVID-19 impact in three areas: (i) inputs, (ii) process, and (iii) outputs of the Health Technology Assessment organizations' (HTAOs) research operations and HTA process in general.

Results: Survey results showed that most HTAOs hired more staff and secured similar or higher funding levels during COVID-19.

Objective: Traumatic brain injury (TBI) prediction models have gained significant attention in recent years because of their potential to aid in clinical decision making. Existing models, such as Corticosteroid Randomization after Significant Head Injury and International Mission for Prognosis and Analysis of Clinical Trials, are currently losing external validity and performance, probably because of their diverse inclusion criteria and changes in treatment modalities over the years. There is a lack of models that predict outcomes strictly pertaining to primary decompression after TBI.

Molecular diagnosis and duration of eschar swab sample positivity post-doxycycline therapy in scrub typhus patients.

Background: An eschar is not always present in all scrub typhus patients. Furthermore, such patients may present to tertiary care hospitals after administration of doxycycline. The present study aimed to determine the usefulness of using the swab from eschar sites in the diagnosis of scrub typhus in patients who present post-doxycycline therapy.

Wernicke's Encephalopathy (WE) Associated with Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG) Presenting with Psychiatric Morbidity: Description of Two Cases.

Background: Hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) refers to intractable vomiting during pregnancy and is rarely associated with Wernicke's encephalopathy (WE). HG-associated WE can lead to mortality and permanent cognitive impairment if left untreated. In this report, we present two cases of WE following HG occurring in the context of comorbid severe depression.
