Background: The real-world data on outcome of hemophilia A patients with inhibitors (HAI) is sparse, especially from developing countries. In a setting of inequitable healthcare opportunities for hemophilia patients, especially those with inhibitors, low-dose practices of emicizumab are emerging. In the present article, we describe our experience of managing HAI patients on low-dose emicizumab over a period of 56 months (from December 2019 to August 2024).

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates leukocytosis in children with diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) compared to those with community-acquired pneumonia (CAP).
  • It analyzes various blood parameters, finding significant differences in the platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) and platelet-to-monocyte ratio (PMR) between the two groups, although the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) showed no significant difference.
  • The results suggest that specific blood parameters could help predict clinical outcomes in children with DKA.

Introduction: Bladder cancer disproportionately affects men and often presents as nonmuscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC). Despite initial treatments, the recurrence and progression of NMIBC are linked to autophagy. This study investigates the expression of autophagy genes (mTOR, ULK1, Beclin1, and LC3) in low and high-grade NMIBC, providing insights into potential prognostic markers and therapeutic targets.

Article Synopsis
  • * A study from 2020 to 2023 analyzed the methylation and gene expression of FGFR3 and TP53 in 115 tumor samples, finding significant patterns in high-grade non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) cases.
  • * Results indicate that FGFR3 hypermethylation and TP53 hypomethylation can serve as independent prognostic indicators, aiding in predicting disease outcomes for patients with high-grade NMIBC.

  • Urinary bladder cancer (UBC) is a prevalent urological cancer, and a study focused on different types of bladder lesions in the north Indian population aimed to correlate clinical and pathological findings.
  • Conducted over 2.5 years, the study included 100 patients who underwent surgical procedures for bladder tumors, with histopathological exams and liquid-based cytology being utilized for analysis.
  • The findings revealed that high-grade infiltrating urothelial carcinoma was the most common type, with a significant number of cases showing muscle invasion; the study also highlighted the importance of urine cytology and immunohistochemistry for early diagnosis and tumor typing.

Background: This study aims to compare the performance of line probe assay (LPA) on smear-negative samples with that of smear-positive samples for diagnosing pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) and first-line drug sensitivity testing (FL DST).

Methods: A total of 196 sputum samples including both smear-positive (112) and negative (84) samples of patients suspected of PTB were subjected to LPA for TB detection and FL DST. TB culture followed by MPT 64 Ag was done and conventional FL DST was performed on all culture-positive isolates.
