Objectives: The prevalence and predisposing factors to metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) in children with type 1 Diabetes (T1D) living in developing countries are unknown.

Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in children with T1D. The presence of liver fat and tissue stiffness were assessed by ultrasonography and shear-wave elastography (SWE), respectively.

Background: Shared decision-making (SDM) incorporates evidence, patient values, and preferences into medical decision-making. SDM and decision aids might promote health professional engagement and patient knowledge of tobacco cessation therapy, improving usage and results. The SDM facilitates talks that lead to better-informed judgements that align with patients' priorities, unlike individual decision-making.

Effectiveness of Transcutaneous Electric Nerve Stimulation for Controlling Pain after the Archwire Placement.

Introduction: The aim of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of transcutaneous electric nerve stimulation (TENS) for controlling pain after the archwire placement and then comparison between the placebo, extra-oral, and intra-oral group depending upon the electrode placement.

Materials And Methods: The study consists of a sample size of 90 patients who were further divided into three groups. Each group had 30 samples each, and the groups were divided into placebo group, extra-oral TENS group, and intra-oral TENS group.

Comparative evaluation of submerged versus nonsubmerged dental implants - A prospective, clinico-radiographic, split-mouth study.

Background: To minimize the risk of impaired osseointegration historically, it has been recommended to insert the implant into the bone (submerged implants) and to allow for submerged healing of 3-6 months in the lower and upper jaw, this conventional technique is advocated. The concept of nonsubmerged healing was introduced in 1988 in which gingival former was placed at the time of implant placement instead of cover screw. The treatment concept of nonsubmerged implant placement enables early implant loading, one surgical procedure only, and a reduced treatment period for the patients.

Development and Preliminary Validation of a Novel Instrument to Assess Re-Injury Associated Anxiety Following Traumatic Orofacial and Dental Injury in Young Boxers.

Background/aim: An injury sustained during sports activity can lead to the development of reinjury anxiety and hamper performance. Although tools exist to assess re-injury anxiety, a domain of interest in the field of sports medicine, research in the psychological impact of an orofacial injury is rudimentary. The present study envisaged to develop an instrument to assess the presence of reinjury anxiety following orofacial and dental injury in boxers aged between 10 and 16 years.

Comparison of Intraoperative Propofol-Dexmedetomidine and Ketofol-Dexmedetomidine Infusions on Recovery from Anesthesia in Patients Undergoing Endoscopic Trans-Sphenoidal Pituitary Surgeries: A Randomised Controlled Trial.

Unhealthy behaviours associated with uncontrolled hypertension among adults in India- Insights from a national survey.

Background: Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are governed by a cluster of unhealthy behaviours and their determinants, like tobacco and alcohol, unhealthy diet, lack of physical activity, overweight and obesity, pollution (air, water, and soil), and stress. Regulation of these unhealthy behaviours plays a crucial role in blood pressure control among individuals on hypertensive treatment, especially those suffering from uncontrolled hypertension. Hence, the present study aims at identifying the unhealthy behaviours associated with uncontrolled hypertension.

Multipronged strategy for protection and motivation of healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic: a real-life study.

Methods: We surveyed COVID-19 exposure risk, personal protective equipment (PPE) compliance, vaccination status, mental health & COVID-19 infection rate across different HCW cadres.

Hygrometry behavior during high-flow nasal oxygen therapy and non-invasive mechanical ventilation: A narrative review of bench to clinical studies.

Recently, there has been growing interest in knowing the best hygrometry level during high-flow nasal oxygen and non-invasive ventilation (NIV) and its potential influence on the outcome. Various studies have shown that breathing cold and dry air results in excessive water loss by nasal mucosa, reduced mucociliary clearance, increased airway resistance, reduced epithelial cell function, increased inflammation, sloughing of tracheal epithelium, and submucosal inflammation. With the Coronavirus Disease 2019 pandemic, using high-flow nasal oxygen with a heated humidifier has become an emerging form of non-invasive support among clinicians.

Custom ocular prostheses incorporating braille for a patient with bilateral anophthalmia: A clinical report.

Bilateral anophthalmia, a clinical condition characterized by the absence of globe and ocular tissues from both the orbits, presents considerable challenges to a patient's daily routine and use of prostheses. The patient's inability to orientate custom ocular prostheses (COPs) 3-dimensionally is understandable, and they typically rely on caregivers to manage the prostheses and prevent inadvertent injury to the socket. This clinical report describes the successful integration of braille script into COPs as a solution to these challenges by improving prosthesis management, decreasing caregiver dependence, and encouraging independence.

To describe the demographic and clinical characteristics of patients with Charcot neuro-osteoarthropathy (CNO) and to examine for differences between participants with Type 1 diabetes mellitus (DM) (T1DM) and Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Multicenter observational study in eight diabetic foot clinics in six countries between January 1, 1996, and December 31, 2022. Demographic, clinical, and laboratory parameters were obtained from the medical records.

Magnetic resonance imaging of knee arthropathies: A pictorial review.

A wide variety of degenerative, inflammatory and infective arthropathies with overlapping clinical features can involve the knee joint. Due to its excellent soft tissue contrast resolution and multiplanar capability, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) plays a significant role in early and accurate diagnosis of various arthropathies. In this article, we have provided a brief review of MRI features of various arthropathies involving the knee joint.

Real world data of Ewing sarcoma from a resource-limited setting with poor compliance to treatment leading to poor outcomes.

Background: There is limited data from India on Ewing sarcoma (ES) patients. We analysed the demographic and clinical profile of ES patients, the systemic chemotherapy, local treatment and outcomes in patients with localised, metastatic and recurrent disease.

Methods: Data of ES patients reporting from 2010 to 2019 to a tertiary care referral centre in north India was evaluated.

Can conformational flexibility influence the self-assembly behavior and sensing efficacy of fluorogenic amphiphiles? A case study with bisbenzimidazole-based probes.

In this work, we have explored the metal ion sensing properties of two bisbenzimidazole-based fluorescent probes, that differ in their conformational flexibility, in an aqueous medium. The compound with a flexible methyl spacer (1) experienced blue shifts in its absorption and emission maxima (along with a turn-off response) upon the addition of Hg ions. On the contrary, the compound with a relatively rigid structure (2) showed red shifts in both its absorption and emission maxima (along with a turn-off response) when treated with Hg under similar conditions.

Situational analysis of human and agricultural health practice: One Health and antibiotic use in an indigenous village in rural Punjab, India.

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) represents one of the biggest threats to health globally. The rise of AMR has been largely attributed to the misuse and abuse of antimicrobials in veterinary, human, and agricultural medicine. This study aimed to assess human, livestock, and agricultural health profiles, and practices of One Health and antibiotic use through a situational analysis of an Indigenous village Gurah, in a rural area of Mohali district in Punjab state using a demographic and facility survey.

Triple train collision at Bahanaga Bazar: Disaster response and management: An observational study.

Background: Train collision accidents are tragic events associated with high mortality. The study aimed to comprehensively describe the clinical-epidemiological profile, disaster emergency response, and management following a train collision accident in Odisha, India.

Methods: This observational study was conducted by a tertiary care hospital in eastern India.

Aim: The objective of pulpotomy is to preserve the pulp vitality. However, the assessment of pulpal status following pulpotomy is often overlooked. This retrospective analysis aimed to compare the pulp responses to EPT (Electric pulp test) and cold test in mature permanent molars that have undergone either complete pulpotomy (CP) or partial pulpotomy (PP) for managing carious pulpal exposure and symptomatic irreversible pulpitis (SIP) and completed 12 months follow-up.

Background: Technological advancements and globalization have shifted dietary behaviours, contributing to increased chronic disease prevalence in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs) like India. Adolescents are particularly vulnerable due to these changes, which can impact their lifelong health. This study aimed to assess the nutritional status of adolescents in public schools in Chandigarh, India.

Timing of Surgery and Postoperative Outcomes in Esophagectomy for Squamous Cell Carcinoma: A Prospective Study in North India.

Purpose: Neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by esophagectomy is the usual approach to manage esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). The optimal interval to operate after completion of neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (NACRT) still remains controversial.

Methods: A prospective study was conducted to observe and compare postoperative complications and pathological outcomes in patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the esophagus who underwent NACRT followed by surgery within 8 weeks or after 8 weeks of NACRT completion.
