Introduction: Opening the incubator side wall to insert a non-sterile length-measuring device carries the risk of microbial contamination and thermal instability for preterm infants. To reduce this inconvenience, a laser-based length-measuring board is proposed to measure body length from outside the incubator.

Methods: This device has two laser-line-shaped cursors which can be pointed to opposite ends of a segment to be measured.

Introduction: Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) is a non-invasive technique with therapeutic potential, especially in respiratory muscle training (RMT) in pathological conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and heart failure.

Objective: To evaluate the effect of bilateral cathodic tDCS on respiratory muscle strength and endurance in healthy young and elderly women.

The coastal intertidal ecosystem of the Bijagós Archipelago, Guinea-Bissau, one of the largest and most important in West Africa, sustains a considerable proportion of the migratory shorebird populations of the East Atlantic Flyway and operates as a nursery area for benthic fish in the region. The macrozoobenthos in these mudflats constitute the main food source for both groups so that spatial and temporal variation in their abundance and community composition is likely to influence the abundance and distribution of fish and birds. In this study we described the spatial and temporal dynamics in the density, biomass, and community composition of macrozoobenthos across six intertidal flats in three islands of the Bijagós Archipelago.

Introduction: Coronary artery disease (CAD), characterized by an atherogenic process in the coronary arteries, is one of the leading causes of death in Madeira.
