Department of Physical Medicine, Rheumatology & Rehabilitation, Faculty of Medicine, Portsaid University, Portsaid, Egypt.

Diabetic nephropathy (DN) and peripheral neuropathy (DPN) are unpredictable diabetic complications with narrow management alternatives. CD40-CD40 ligand system may be an essential pathway for diabetic microvascular complications. No previous studies had evaluated the relationship between CD40 rs1883832 polymorphism and DN/DPN.

The synthesis and characterization of a lead-free perovskite-type material, (CHNFO) BiI is reported. It exhibits a zero-dimensional (0D) BiI octahedral unit, surrounded by a flexible tripodal antifungal ligand (HFluconazole). The several intermolecular interactions of the independent cation and the bismuth iodide octahedra were tested via the Hirshfeld surface analysis.

Background: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a very common disease that affects 25-30% of the population in western countries. Many studies have observed the importance of infection in the development of insulin resistance, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, non-alcoholic steatohepatitis, and liver fibrosis and cirrhosis. However, the evidence from different studies was controversial.

Background & Aims: Hepatitis B is a potentially life-threatening liver infection and it is a major global health problem. Over the past decade, numerous studies have reported that patients with CLD, especially HCV-positive and HBV-positive patients, have decreased 25(OH) D levels. The current study was designed to assess the serum levels of vitamin D [25(OH) D3] in chronic hepatitis B patients, before and during treatment with antiviral therapy.

Unlabelled: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic debilitating illness, and atherosclerotic changes are inevitable and usually neglected during the follow-up of diabetic patients. Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2) is under trial in many studies to hold responsibility for atherosclerosis process progression as they suggest a malfunction of these receptors expressed on monocytes in diabetic patients. This study aimed to assess the association between the TLR2 and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in Egyptian diabetic patients and to investigate its relationship with some diabetic complications.

Targeting peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-gamma (PPAR-γ) is an approved strategy in facing insulin resistance (IR) for diabetes mellitus (DM) type 2. The PPAR-γ modulators display improvements in the insulin-sensitizing and adverse effects of the traditional thiazolidinediones. Nitazoxanide (NTZ) is proposed as a PPAR-γ receptor ligand with agonistic post-transcriptional effects.

Mathematics & Computer Science Dept. Faculty of Science, PortSaid University, PortSaid, Egypt.

Day after day, the importance of relying on nature in many fields such as food, medical, pharmaceutical industries, and others is increasing. Essential oils (EOs) are considered as one of the most significant natural products for use as antimicrobials, antioxidants, antitumorals, and anti-inflammatories. Optimizing the usage of EOs is a big challenge faced by the scientific researchers because of the complexity of chemical composition of every EO, in addition to the difficulties to determine the best in inhibiting the bacterial activity.
