Introduction: Patients undergoing maintenance dialysis have a higher mortality rate compared to the general population. It is known that angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEIs) and angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs) have protective effects on the kidney; however, few studies have directly compared their impact on mortality in patients undergoing dialysis. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of ACEIs, ARBs, or their combination in reducing all-cause and cardiovascular mortality in maintenance dialysis patients.

Introduction: Smartphones have significantly increased digital engagement among young people due to their ease of use and constant internet access. Nomophobia and the fear of missing out are associated with mobile and internet use, potentially impacting students' mental health and academic performance.
Objectives: To provide the prevalence of nomophobia and fear of missing out while shedding light on the role of psychological alienation between them.

Purpose: The study evaluated the efficacy of SC arthrodesis with lunate preservation for treating patients diagnosed with stage IIIB or IIIC Kienböck's disease, who also exhibit neutral ulnar variance. The study further aimed to explore potential variations in outcomes between patients diagnosed with stage IIIB and IIIC Kienböck's disease.
Methods: Thirty-two patients diagnosed with stage IIIB (n = 19) and stage IIIC (n = 13) Kienböck's disease underwent SC arthrodesis with distal radius bone grafting stabilised by Herbert compression screws.

Applying safety means in the industry, especially in the petroleum industry is very important to maintain the industrial facility. A semi-quantitative risk assessment as Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA) is used widely to quantify data after qualitative risk analysis as HAZOP using a simpler way than quantitative risk analysis 'QRA' as fault tree analysis 'FTA'. This determines if a new safety integrity function 'SIF' is needed.

Background: Although SARS-CoV-2 vaccines are generally safe, there are growing concerns about their link to a potentially life-threatening multi-system inflammatory syndrome following vaccination (MIS-V). We conducted this systematic review to elucidate the prevalence of MIS, severity, treatment, and outcomes following SARS-CoV-2 vaccination.
Methods: We searched PubMed, Scopus, ScienceDirect, Google Scholar, Virtual Health Library (VHL), Cochrane Library, and Web of Science databases for articles and case reports about MIS-V.

Background: Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is the most common reproductive endocrine disorder, which affects approximately one in every five women at the age of reproduction. The first line of PCOS management is recommended to be lifestyle modification. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of lifestyle modification on Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQoL) among women with PCOS.

Background: Heart rate variability (HRV) is a valuable indicator of autonomic nervous system integrity and can be a prognostic tool of COVID-19 induced myocardial affection. This study aimed to compare HRV indices between patients who developed myocardial injury and those without myocardial injury in COVID-19 patients who were admitted to intensive care unit (ICU).
Methods: In this retrospective study, the data from 238 COVID-19 adult patients who were admitted to ICU from April 2020 to June 2021 were collected.

Diabetic nephropathy (DN) has high prevalence and poor prognosis which make it a research priority for scientists. Since metformin, a hypoglycaemic drug, has been found to prolong the survival of mice with DN. This study aims at investigating the molecular mechanisms leading to DN in rats and to explore the role of leucine-rich α-2-glycoprotein-1 (LRG1), activin-like kinase1 (ALK1), and transforming growth factor-β (TGFβ1) in the pathologic alterations seen in DN.

Background: The use of Direct Oral Anticoagulants (DOACs) in patients who have both atrial fibrillation (AF) and end-stage renal disease (ESRD) requiring hemodialysis remains controversial, with warfarin remaining the mainstay of the treatment. As hemodialysis patients were excluded from most clinical DOACs trials, the evidence of their efficacy and safety is lacking in this cohort of patients.
Aim: To review the current evidence investigating safety profile and the efficacy of DOACs in comparison with warfarin in patients with AF and end-stage renal disease (ESRD) requiring hemodialysis.

The necessity for automatic monitoring tools led to using 3D sensing technologies to collect accurate and precise data onsite to create an as-built model. This as-built model can be integrated with a BIM-based planned model to check the project’s status based on algorithms. This article investigates the construction progress monitoring (CPM) domain, including knowledge gaps and future research direction.

Objective: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is considered the highest recorded malignancy in Egypt. The shortage of appropriate biomarkers for early detection often results in the late diagnosis of the HCC. Circular RNAs (CircRNAs) are presented as long stranded non-coding RNA that combine covalently to make a sealed circular form which make them very stable.

The use of copper oxide nanoparticles (CUONPs) on a large-scale application is a reason for many health problems and morbidities involving most body tissues, particularly those of the nervous system. Crocin is the chemical ingredient primarily responsible for the color of saffron. It has different pharmacological effects, such as antioxidant, anticancer, and memory-improving activities.

We compared two methods of fixation for unstable scaphoid waist nonunions regarding rate of scaphoid union, union time, deformity correction, clinical outcomes (pain, range of motion, and grip strength), and QuickDASH scores. Eighty-nine patients who undergo cancellous iliac bone grafting and internal fixation either with a Herbert screw ( = 46) or multiple Kirschner wires ( = 43) were evaluated. The rate of scaphoid union in the K-wire group was 98% ( = 42) versus 89% ( = 41) in the screw group.

Microvascular complications of diabetes mellitus are progressively significant reasons for mortality. Metformin (MET) is considered as the first-line therapy for type 2 diabetes patients, and may be especially beneficial in cases of diabetic retinopathy although the precise mechanisms of MET action are not fully elucidated. The current study was designed to inspect the antioxidant and modulatory actions of MET on DRET in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats.
