Purpose: Castration Resistant Prostate Cancer (CRPC) is characterized by poor prognosis and limited therapeutic options. AgNPs functionalized with glucose (G-AgNPs) were observed cytotoxic to CRPC cell lines (PC-3 and Du-145) and not LNCaP. This study aims to evaluate AgNPs and G-AgNPs' uptake mechanisms in these cells and understand their role in the selective effect against CRPC cells.

The most recent progress in reconstructive therapy for the management of periodontitis and peri-implantitis bone defects has relied on the development of highly porous biodegradable bioaerogels for guided bone regeneration. The objective of this work was to evaluate the osteoinduction of periodontal-originating cells (human dental follicle mesenchymal cells, DFMSCs) promoted by a nano-hydroxyapatite/chitosan (nHAp/CS) bioaerogel, which was purified and sterilized by a sustainable technique (supercritical CO). Moreover, the bone regeneration capacity of the nHAp/CS bioaerogel was preliminarily assessed as a proof-of-concept on a rat calvaria bone defect model.

Objective: During the last decade, the management of gastric intestinal metaplasia (GIM) has been addressed by several distinct international evidence-based guidelines. In this review, we aimed to synthesise these guidelines and provide clinicians with a global perspective of the current recommendations for managing patients with GIM, as well as highlight evidence gaps that need to be addressed with future research.
Design: We conducted a systematic review of the literature for guidelines and consensus statements published between January 2010 and February 2023 that address the diagnosis and management of GIM.

Renal cell carcinoma is the most common adult renal solid tumor and the deadliest urological cancer, with clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) being the predominant subtype. The PI3K/AKT signaling pathway assumes a central role in ccRCC tumorigenesis, wherein its abnormal activation confers a highly aggressive phenotype, leading to swift resistance against current therapies and distant metastasis. Thus, treatment resistance and disease progression remain a persistent clinical challenge in managing ccRCC effectively.

Lung carcinoids are rare tumors representing 1-2% of all invasive lung malignancies. They include typical and atypical carcinoids, whose distinction is made based on the mitotic index and presence or absence of necrosis. The 10-year overall survival for stage IV typical carcinoid is 47% and 18% for atypical carcinoid, reflecting the indolent growth of these tumors.
