Acute heart failure (AHF) often leads to unfavorable outcomes due to fluid overload. While diuretics are the cornerstone treatment, acetazolamide may enhance diuretic efficiency by reducing sodium reabsorption. We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis on the effects of acetazolamide as an add-on therapy in patients with AHF compared to diuretic therapy.

Right-sided heart failure and tricuspid regurgitation are common and strongly associated with poor quality of life and an increased risk of heart failure hospitalizations and death. While medical therapy for right-sided heart failure is limited, treatment options for tricuspid regurgitation include surgery and, based on recent developments, several transcatheter interventions. However, the patients who might benefit from tricuspid valve interventions are yet unknown, as is the ideal time for these treatments given the paucity of clinical evidence.

According to the net balance between these two factors, cardiac geometry and function may improve (reverse remodelling, RR) and even completely normalize (remission), or vice versa progressively deteriorate (adverse remodelling, AR). RR or remission predict a better prognosis, while AR has been associated with worsening clinical status and outcomes.
