A sinus floor elevation via lateral window (LSFE) is one of the most widely used bone augmentation procedures for implant therapy in the posterior area of the maxilla. Locating and preparing a correct opening window on the lateral sinus wall is a key step of this procedure. Article Synopsis
  • This study conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to compare levels of specific neurotrophic factors (BDNF, NGF, NT-3, NT-4, GDNF) in preterm and term infants, examining a total of 16 studies with over 2,600 newborns.
  • The results revealed significantly lower levels of BDNF and NT-3 in preterm infants compared to term infants, but no significant differences were found in NGF and NT-4 levels.
  • Meta-regression showed that the type of sample used influenced the variability in BDNF levels, while factors such as gestational age and birth weight had no significant impact; the study suggests more research is needed to explore neurodevelopmental
