Background: Prospective studies have reported conflicting results regarding the adjunctive effect of antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT) on clinical and microbiological parameters in individuals under periodontal maintenance therapy (PMT). This study aimed to evaluate the clinical and microbiological adjunctive effects of aPDT using indocyanine green (ICG) in residual sites with probing depth (PD) ≥5 mm during PMT in comparison with scaling and root planing (SRP) alone.

Patient with McCune albright syndrome: Case report and 10 Years of follow-up imaging examination.

The McCune Albright syndrome (MAS) is a rare, multi-system disease composed of the triad of polyostotic fibrous dysplasia of bone (PFDB), café-au-lait skin hyperpigmentation, and endocrine disorders. The diagnosis involves clinical, biochemical and imaging findings, with dentistry playing an important role in MAS, since many patients present DFPO in the craniofacial bones, including the maxilla and mandible, and in view of their dental needs, the correct management of these patients is not only an essential but important area to be investigated. This report presents a case of a patient with McCune Albright Syndrome, the behavior of the disease over a period of 10 years and how imaging exams such as scintigraphy and tomography were important for planning the dental treatment of this patient, since they are fundamental allies for identification and evaluation of the progression and/or stability of the disease.

Comparison between digital and conventional impression techniques in children on preference, time and comfort: A crossover randomized controlled trial.

Objective: To compare the conventional alginate impression and the digital impression taken with an intraoral scanner of both dental arches in children, using a randomized crossover design.

Trial Design: This is a monocentric, controlled, superiority, randomized, crossover, open study.

Methods: Twenty-four orthodontic patients between 6 and 11 years of age underwent intraoral scanning (TRIOS 3; 3Shape) and alginate impression of both dental arches with an interval of 1 week between the two procedures.

Rationale: Multiple Calcifying Hyperplastic Dental Follicle (MCHDF) is an extremely rare condition and is characterised by multiple impacted permanent teeth, with enlarged dental follicles, containing calcifications. Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) is the ideal exam for the identification of this condition.

Patient Concerns: The present study seeks to compare the behaviour of MCHDF in imaging exams of three clinical cases with their MCHDF imaging diagnoses, in which a change about tooth eruption was observed.

Background: Digital therapeutics, an emerging type of medical approach, is defined as evidence-based therapeutic interventions through qualified software programs that help prevent, manage, or treat chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), which has high social and economic burden. Klivo, a startup certified by the Brazilian Society of Diabetes, developed the first digital therapeutic product for managing T2DM in Brazil, reaching 21 of 24 states. Klivo has continuously been improving its model of behavior change on the basis of an intensive lifestyle intervention method that addresses individuals' needs-the Klivo Intervention Program for T2DM (KIPDM).

All habitats have noise, but anthropogenic sounds often differ from natural sounds in terms of frequency, duration and intensity, and therefore may disrupt animal vocal communication. This study aimed to investigate whether vocalizations emitted by black-tufted marmosets () were affected by the noise produced by mining activity. Through passive acoustic monitoring, we compared the noise levels and acoustic parameters of the contact calls of marmosets living in two study areas (with two sampling points within each area)-one near and one far from an opencast mine in Brazil.

Congeneric species often coexist in sympatry using behavioral and morphological adaptations to reduce competition and interspecific interference, but reproductive patterns behind coexistence remain unknown. We analyzed the gonadal morphology and development, reproductive cycle, and population structure of two sympatric congeneric fishes to evaluate the degree of overlap and differentiation of the reproductive biology between species in a Neotropical river. Development of testes and ovaries were similar between species, both showing asynchronous gonadal development, large diameter of gametes and synthesis of mucosubstances by follicle cells to form adhesive eggs.

Impact of orthodontic correction of dental crowding with pre-molar extraction in the anterior mandible evaluated by cone-beam computed tomography.

Introduction: To evaluate, by cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT), the change in thickness and height of the alveolar bone and interdental septum in the anterior mandible after orthodontic treatment for dental crowding using tooth extraction.

Material And Methods: The sample consisted of 48 mandibular incisors from adult patients who presented with Class I malocclusion and required orthodontic treatment with the extraction of mandibular premolars. CBCT images were taken before starting the treatment (T1) and three months after treatment (T2).

Normalization of the electromyography amplitude during a multiple-set resistance training protocol: Reliability and differences between approaches.

The first aim was to investigate the impact of different electromyography (EMG) parameters as a reference to normalize the EMG amplitude of the superficial quadriceps femoris muscles across different sets of a knee extension exercise.
