The incidence and prevalence of medial meniscus ramp tears has been increasing in the recent literature due to the increased understanding of the anatomy and diagnosis of these tears. When a patient presents with an ACL tear, a medial meniscus ramp tear should be suspected if the patient has a grade 3+ Lachman or pivot shift exam, a vertical line of increased signal intensity in the posterior capsule or peripheral meniscus on magnetic resonance imagining (MRI), or posteromedial tibial plateau bone bruising on MRI.

This work describes the direct deposition of ZIF-67 metal-organic framework (MOF) onto Ti/TiO nanotubes forming a photoanode for the degradation of the antidepressant Venlafaxine (VEN). This material combines the excellent characteristics of ZIF-67 MOF in enhancing photocatalytic reduction and oxidation reactions induced by UV LED irradiation, as well as the storage of VEN molecules in its pores. Ti/TiO-ZIF-67 features an eco-friendly technology for degradation of pharmaceutical micropollutants such as antidepressants.

Richness, Endemism and Seasonality of Horseflies (Diptera: Tabanidae) in Forests of the Equatorial Pacific Region of Ecuador.

The Equatorial Pacific Region (EPR) in Ecuador is characterized by high rates of vegetation diversity, and rapid loss of vegetation cover due to anthropogenic pressures. In this study, general ecological aspects of the Tabanidae family, including richness, endemism, and seasonality, were evaluated. Analyses reveal that approximately 42% of the species recorded for Ecuador are present in the EPR, and out of the 84 species cataloged in the EPR, 6 are endemic, representing an endemism of 7.

Three Cases of Intracardiac Leiomyomatosis with Very Long-term Follow-up.

Uterine intravascular leiomyomatosis (IVL) with extension into the right heart is uncommon, with no more than 400 cases reported in the literature since 1907. The present study aims to report three patients with intracardiac IVL surgically treated in our institution, with long-term follow-up. Three female patients in their third to fifth decades of life, with a history of difficult hysterectomy due to extensive myomatosis, presented with symptoms of right-sided heart failure.

Venoarterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation in high-risk pulmonary embolism: A narrative review.

Emergent reperfusion, most commonly with the administration of thrombolytic agents, is the recommended management approach for patients presenting with high-risk, or hemodynamically unstable pulmonary embolism. However, a subset of patients with a more catastrophic presentation, including refractory shock and impending or active cardiopulmonary arrest, may require immediate circulatory support. Venoarterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA-ECMO) can be deployed rapidly by the well-trained team and provide systemic perfusion allowing for hemodynamic stabilization.

Gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding is the most common GI diagnosis leading to hospitalization within the United States. Prompt diagnosis and treatment of GI bleeding is critical to improving patient outcomes and reducing high healthcare utilization and costs. Radiologic techniques including computed tomography angiography, catheter angiography, computed tomography enterography, magnetic resonance enterography, nuclear medicine red blood cell scan, and technetium-99m pertechnetate scintigraphy (Meckel scan) are frequently used to evaluate patients with GI bleeding and are complementary to GI endoscopy.

Bodily Practices and Meanings Articulated in the Physical Exercise of Older Adults in Santiago de Chile Post-COVID-19.

This article presents the results of almost nine months of ethnographic research on the relationship between physical exercise and health in older people in the post-COVID-19 context. Via exploratory-descriptive qualitative research and the use of a convenient sample, I shed light on this relationship using the stories and life experiences of 40 older people (10 men and 30 women, including two women instructors for senior classes) who exercise regularly. The meanings they attributed to physical exercise during COVID-19 and after it are explained, emphasising first that there is no health in a context of not feeling safe; once there is a feeling of security, the most relevant meanings can be exposed in three directions.

Decolonising global health: why the new Pandemic Agreement should have included the principle of subsidiarity.

The negotiations for the WHO Pandemic Agreement have brought attention to issues of racism and colonialism in global health. Although the agreement aims to promote global solidarity, it fails to address these deeply embedded problems. This Viewpoint argues that not including the principle of subsidiarity into Article 4 of the agreement as a pragmatic strategy was a missed opportunity to decolonise global health governance and promote global solidarity.
