Background: In STREAM-1 (Strategic Reperfusion Early After Myocardial Infarction), excess intracranial hemorrhage occurred in patients aged ≥75 years receiving full-dose tenecteplase as part of a pharmaco-invasive strategy, whereas no further intracranial hemorrhage occurred after halving the tenecteplase dose. In STREAM-2 (Second Strategic Reperfusion Early After Myocardial Infarction), half-dose tenecteplase was an effective and safe pharmaco-invasive strategy in older patients with ST-segment-elevation myocardial infarction presenting within <3 hours, compared with primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). We prespecified evaluating the efficacy and safety of a half-dose versus full-dose pharmaco-invasive strategy and compared the half-dose pharmaco-invasive strategy to primary PCI in patients aged ≥75 years.

Ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC) has gained worldwide popularity due to its high mechanical performance. This research studied the influence of adding a mixture of two fibers (steel and PVA) on the compressive strength, modulus of elasticity, and flexural tensile strength of UHPC. The mixtures were prepared by adding steel fibers and PVA fibers using a standard procedure defined in the research, which is the time to mix the dry materials and the time to mix the admixture and water.

This research aims to conduct a systematic literature review (SLR) on intelligent sensors and the Internet of Things (IoT) in assistive devices for the deaf and hard of hearing. This study analyzes the current state and promise of intelligent sensors in improving the daily lives of those with hearing impairments, addressing the critical need for improved communication and environmental interaction. We investigate the functionality, integration, and use of sensor technologies in assistive devices, assessing their impact on autonomy and quality of life.

Background: Ischemia/reperfusion injury (IRI) causes cellular dysfunction and death in organs like the kidney, heart, and brain. It involves energy depletion during ischemia and oxidative stress, inflammation, and apoptosis during reperfusion. Kidney IRI often leads to acute kidney injury (AKI) in various clinical scenarios.

Objectives: Circulating tumor DNAs (ctDNAs) are fragments of malignant tissue DNA that can simply signify the real time genetic change and epigenetic modification of a solid tumor tissue. Pheochromocytomas (PCCs) and Paragangliomas (PGLs) are malinancy of adrenal gland tissue that have the possible diagnosis by ctDNAs. In this study the methylation quanifcation of three target genes , , and in the ctDNA of PCCs/PGLs patients were measured as a diagnostic biomarker.

In recent studies, it has been shown that fluorescence lifetime imaging (FLIM) may reveal intracellular structural details in unstained cytological preparations that are not revealed by standard staining procedures. The aim of our investigation was to examine whether FLIM images could reveal areas suggestive of polymerization in red blood cells (RBCs) of sickle cell disease (SCD) patients. We examined label-free blood films using auto-fluorescence FLIM images of 45 SCD patients and compared the results with those of 27 control persons without hematological disease.

The aim of this study was to assess the real-world safety profile of medical devices used in focal prostate cancer treatment utilizing the Manufacturer and User Facility Device Experience (MAUDE) database. The MAUDE database was searched for reports on high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU), cryoablation, laser ablation, and irreversible electroporation (IRE) devices used in prostate cancer treatment from 1993 to 2023. Adverse events were identified and categorized.

Objectives: The Brazilian Unified Health System (Sistema Único de Saúde-SUS) is the universal public healthcare system of Brazil that maintains a nationwide database of its patients. Our primary objective was to analyze regional and temporal trends, while our secondary goal was to establish correlations between states' health economy status and their prostate cancer (PCa) epidemiology.
Methods: We analyzed Brazil's nationwide data on prostate cancer (PCa) incidence, mortality, and care gathered between 2013 and 2021 by the Information Technology Department of SUS (DATA-SUS), updated monthly using the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10) code.

The main concern with concrete at high temperatures is loss of strength and explosive spalling, which are more pronounced in high-strength concretes, such as Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC). The use of polymeric fibers in the mixture helps control chipping, increasing porosity and reducing internal water vapor pressure, but their addition can impact its mechanical properties and workability. This study evaluated the physical and mechanical properties of UHPC with metallic and PVA fibers under high temperatures using a 2 central composite factorial design.

Background: Thyroid eye disease (TED), a common extrathyroidal manifestation of Graves disease, poses significant management challenges due to potential disfigurement, visual impairment, and decreased quality of life. Uncertainties remain about the optimal treatment approach, especially regarding TED duration and its impact on outcomes.
Objective: This meta-analysis evaluates the effects of various treatments on inflammatory markers and severity endpoints in TED, stratified by disease duration, distinguishing between treatments initiated within the first 6 months (initial phase) and those initiated thereafter (subacute/chronic phase).

Dental caries remains the most prevalent chronic disease globally, and its management should adhere to the principles of minimal intervention dentistry. This study reports a series of successful cases involving the selective removal of carious tissue in permanent molars, with follow-up periods of up to 21 years. Six permanent molars with severe and deep carious lesions were treated with selective caries removal and restored with high-viscosity glass ionomer cement.
