Objective: There is a shortage of established prognostic biomarkers in bladder cancer. One candidate is tumour protein 63 (p63), a transcription factor of the p53 gene family that is expressed in the normal urothelium. Recently proposed RNA expression-based molecular classifiers of bladder cancer identified high p63 expression as a component of a basal/squamous subtype linked to poor patient prognosis.

In inoperable patients, balloon pulmonary angioplasty (BPA) is recommended, but we need to implement pharmacological bridge therapy to BPA in some cases. We report a case of a 38-year-old male diagnosed with CTEPH, disqualified from PEA due to comorbidity, who developed right ventricular (RV) failure.

Previous experimental reports have demonstrated that lipoxygenase (LOX) derivatives of arachidonic acid (AA), such as hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acids (HETEs), may be of significance in the pathogenesis of pancreatic cancer. However, these observations have not been confirmed in clinical studies. In the current study, we comprehensively evaluated the systemic levels of selected LOX-derived HETEs such as 5-, 12- and 15-HETE in patients with pancreatic adenocarcinoma (n=36), chronic pancreatitis (n=39), and in healthy individuals (n=35).

There is no clear evidence that vitamin D effectively improves physical capacity in high-level athletes. The aim of this study was to confirm that vitamin D supplementation of soccer players during eight-week high-intensity training would have a significant effect on their aerobic capacity. The subjects were divided into two groups: the experimental one that was supplemented with vitamin D (SG, n = 20), and the placebo group (PG, n = 16), not supplemented with vitamin D.

Variability of response to treatment hinders successful management of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Consequently, a clinical pharmacogenetics model for predicting response to methotrexate (CP-MTX) has been previously proposed that includes four clinical variables (disease activity, sex, the presence of rheumatoid factor and smoking status) and four SNPs (rs2236225, rs17602729, rs1127354, and rs2372536) in genes of the folate pathway. It showed good performance, but failed to attract attention, likely, in relation with lack of clear clinical benefit.
