Hydatidiform moles are rare and thus most pathologists and geneticists have little experience with their diagnosis. It is important to promptly and correctly identify hydatidiform moles given that they are premalignant disorders associated with a risk of persistent gestational trophoblastic disease and gestational trophoblastic neoplasia. Improvement in diagnosis can be achieved with uniformization of diagnostic criteria and establishment of algorithms.

Unlabelled: This article aims to explore how innovation activities and cluster affiliation moderate the relationship between family involvement and post-internationalization speed in family firms. Based on a sample of 639 Portuguese family businesses (FBs) created and internationalized between 2010 and 2018, we show that, all things being equal, higher levels of family involvement in ownership and management lead to a lower post-internationalization speed. When considering the effect of cluster affiliation, we found that clustered FBs have a lower propensity to slow down the post-internationalization process than their non-clustered counterparts.

Introduction: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) has been associated to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). We sought to investigate the immunoexpression of several glycolytic metabolism-associated markers in patients with HCC associated to NAFLD and associate these factors to their clinical-pathological characteristics.

Methods: We evaluated 35 HCC specimens from 21 patients diagnosed with non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) undergoing liver resection (12 patients), liver transplantation (8 patients), or both (1 patient).

The majority of current systems for automatic diagnosis considers the detection of a unique and previously known pathology. Considering specifically the diagnosis of lesions in the small bowel using endoscopic capsule images, very few consider the possible existence of more than one pathology and when they do, they are mainly detection based systems therefore unable to localize the suspected lesions. Such systems do not fully satisfy the medical community, that in fact needs a system that detects any pathology and eventually more than one, when they coexist.

Glioblastomas (GBMs) present remarkable metabolism reprograming, in which many cells display the "Warburg effect", with the production of high levels of lactate that are extruded to the tumour microenvironment by monocarboxylate transporters (MCTs). We described previously that MCT1 is up-regulated in human GBM samples, and MCT1 inhibition decreases glioma cell viability and aggressiveness. In the present study, we aimed to unveil the role of MCT1 in GBM prognosis and to explore it as a target for GBM therapy in vivo.

During the pretreatment and hydrolysis of lignocellulosic biomass to obtain a hydrolysate rich in fermentable sugars, furaldehydes (furfural and hydroxymethylfurfural), phenolic compounds, and organic acids are formed and released. These compounds inhibit yeast metabolism, reducing fermentation yields and productivity. This study initially confirmed the ability of Spathaspora passalidarum to ferment xylose and demonstrated its sensibility to the inhibitors present in the hemicellulosic sugarcane bagasse hydrolysate.
