Article Synopsis
  • - Severe asthma affects roughly 10% of asthma patients and is marked by poor lung function and high eosinophil counts; this study aims to define asthma remission more clearly using a structured method.

  • - The analysis confirmed specific criteria for both complete and partial clinical remission, creating a practical tool to assess treatment effectiveness in patients with severe asthma enrolled in the Severe Asthma Network Italy registry.

We sought to develop criteria for ERBB2-positivity (HER2) in colorectal cancer to ensure accurate identification of ERBB2-amplified metastatic colorectal cancer patients suitable for enrollment in a phase II trial of ERBB2-targeted therapy (HERACLES trial). A two-step approach was used. In step 1, a consensus panel of pathologists adapted existing protocols for use in colorectal cancer to test ERBB2 expression and amplification.

In this paper we summarize the Molecules of Equivalent Soluble Fluorochromes (MESF) units and the Antibody Binding Capacity (ABC) methods.

Alpha-interferon (alpha-IFN) therapy may induce, reveal or exacerbate various autoimmune-related disorders. The most common is the development of autoantibodies, while clinically overt autoimmune diseases are rare. We describe a 49-year-old woman who developed seronegative rheumatoid-like arthritis and autoimmune hypothyroidism after 7 months of human lymphoblastoid alpha-IFN therapy given for hepatitis C virus-related chronic active hepatitis (CAH-HCV).
