Background: Daratumumab-refractory multiple myeloma (Dara-R MM) presents a significant treatment challenge. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and survival outcomes of elotuzumab, pomalidomide, and dexamethasone (EloPd) in a large, real-world cohort of patients with Dara-R MM, with particular focus on progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS).
Materials And Methods: This retrospective analysis included 247 Dara-R MM patients treated with EloPd.

Background: In adults, the cerebellopontine angle (CPA) pilocytic astrocytoma (PA) is very rare. This tumor has radiological features similar to those of a vestibular schwannoma in the few cases reported in the literature.
Methods: In this study, we conducted a systematic review in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses protocol and scrutinized all original studies pertaining to pontocerebellar angle PA in adult patients.

Background: Rapid spread of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic in 2020 led to an indirect effect on non-COVID patients. Since neuro-oncology cases are unique and brain tumors need a specific therapeutic protocol at proper doses and at the right times, the effects of the pandemic on health care services for patients with glioblastomas (GBs) and their impact on overall survival (OS) and quality of life are not yet known.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective study of 142 GB patients who underwent surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy before and after the lockdown period, aiming to determine the differences in access to care, treatment modality, and adjuvant therapies, and how the lockdown changed the prognosis.
Belantamab mafodotin is the first-in-class antibody-drug conjugates targeting B-cell maturation antigen to have demonstrated effectiveness in triple-class refractory multiple myeloma (TCR-MM) patients. We performed a retrospective study including 78 TCR patients, with at least four prior lines of therapy (LOTs), who received belantamab mafodotin within named patient program and expanded access program in Italy between 2020 and 2022. Median age was 65 years (range 42-86 years), ECOG performance status was ≥1 in 45% of patients.

Introduction: Adjuvant chemotherapy (AC) can prolong overall survival (OS) after pancreatoduodenectomy (PD) for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). However, fitness for AC may be influenced by postoperative recovery. We aimed to investigate if serious (Clavien-Dindo grade ≥ IIIa) postoperative complications affected AC rates, disease recurrence and OS.

Heart failure (HF) represents a major health and economic issue, with increasing morbidity and mortality in spite of novel therapeutic weapons. The disappointing results of HF management may be due to the current therapeutic approach based on the paradigm "one fits all", that cannot apply to a complex and multifaceted syndrome as HF. At this regard, the European Union is developing policies to move from reductionism to precision medicine, in order to identify specific disease biomarkers and develop targeted therapeutic strategies.

Background: Maximal surgical resection remains the treatment of choice for grade II meningiomas, and for some authors it is sufficient to guarantee a long indolent course even without postsurgical radiotherapy (RT), but there is no consensus on the use of RT in this patient population.
Methods: We retrospectively compared clinical and radiologic outcomes between World Health Organization grade I (group A) and grade II (group B) surgically treated meningiomas, focusing on the role of adjuvant RT. We registered clinical, surgical, and radiologic data to detect differences in survival and functional outcome between the 2 groups.

Oligometastatic disease has been described as an intermediate clinical state between localized cancer and systemically metastasized disease. Recent clinical studies have shown prolonged survival when aggressive locoregional approaches are added to systemic therapies in patients with oligometastases. The aim of this review is to outline the newest options to treat oligometastatic colorectal cancer (CRC), also considering its molecular patterns.

Background Evidence regarding effective nonsurgical management of sciatica remains limited. Purpose To determine a difference in effectiveness between combined pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) and transforaminal epidural steroid injection (TFESI) treatment versus TFESI alone for sciatic pain due to lumbar disk herniation. Materials and Methods This prospective multicenter double-blind randomized clinical trial was conducted between February 2017 and September 2019 in participants with sciatica due to lumbar disk herniation lasting 12 weeks or longer that was not responsive to conservative treatment.

Purpose: The present study examined the longitudinal trajectories, through hierarchical modeling, of quality of life among patients with head and neck cancer, specifically symptoms burden, during radiotherapy, and in the follow-up period (1, 3, 6, and 12 months after completion of radiotherapy), through the M.D. Anderson Symptom Inventory Head and Neck questionnaire, formed by three factors.

Background: Head and neck infections are commonly caused by affections with an odontogenic origin. Untreated or non-responsive to treatment odontogenic infections can cause severe consequences such as localized abscesses, deep neck infections (DNI), and mediastinitis, conditions where emergency procedures such as tracheostomy or cervicotomy could be needed.
Methods: An epidemiological retrospective observational study was performed, and the objective of the investigation was to present a single-center 5-years retrospective analysis of all patients admitted to the emergency department of the hospital Policlinico Umberto I "Sapienza" with a diagnosis of odontogenic related head and neck infection, observing the epidemiological patterns, the management and the type of surgical procedure adopted to treat the affections.

Background And Purpose: The Young Section of the Italian Association of Radiotherapy and Clinical Oncology (yAIRO) circulated an online questionnaire survey among residents currently enrolled within Italian radiotherapy residency schools to investigate the profiles, motivations, knowledge of the radiotherapy discipline, organizations and the needs of younger members.
Materials And Methods: The survey was developed by the yAIRO steering committee and included questions about the demographic characteristics of the residents (Profile A), the background of their clinical experience during the school of medicine and national residency admission test performance (Profile B) and the residents' knowledge of the scientific associations active in the field of radiotherapy (Profile C).
Results: Out of 400 residents actually in training, 134 responded to the questionnaire (response rate 33.

Background/aim: Intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) is the standard of care for oropharyngeal cancer management. IMRT can be applied using either the sequential boost or simultaneous integrated boost (SIB-IMRT) techniques. The purpose of the study was to assess the efficacy of sequential boost technique or SIB-IMRT) in locally advanced p16-negative oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma.

Purpose: To develop a predictive index model, integrating both clinical and high-resolution anoscopy (HRA) features to further personalize the decision making process in anal canal carcinoma in COVID19 era.
Methods And Materials: We assess HRA parameters after definitive chemoradiotherapy in patients with anal canal malignant lesions.
Results: HRA features could be important to assess the effect of CRT and a risk stratification system should be introduced in clinical practice to better allocate therapeutic interventions.

Although radiotherapy plays a fundamental role in the management of intermediate/high/very high-risk non-metastatic prostatic cancer (IHR-nmPca), there is still no consensus on the optimal treatment strategy in this setting. Remarkably, the role of elective nodal irradiation (ENI) is still highly controversial. The PROspective multicenter observational study on Elective Pelvic nodes Irradiation (PRO-EPI) was designed to provide "real life" data regarding the patterns of care for IHR-nmPca.

Evidence on the efficacy of postoperative radiotherapy (PORT) in low-intermediate risk squamous cell carcinoma of the oral cavity (OSCC) remains inconclusive. Members of a task force from two national radio-oncology Associations (AIRO and GORTEC) defined 14 clinically relevant questions to identify "gray areas" pertinent to the indication for PORT in this clinical setting. Consequently, a literature review was performed on the topic.
