Assessment of the impact of pharmacist-led intervention with antibiotics in patients with bone and joint infection.

Objectives: The management of patients with bone and joint infections (BJIs) is complex. To improve this care, we carried out pharmaceutical actions in the orthopedic unit, including pharmacist-led-intervention (PLI) for patients requiring prolonged antibiotics. Few data exist regarding patient compliance, adherence and knowledge in cases of BJI.

Persistent Spinal Pain Syndrome: A Proposal for Failed Back Surgery Syndrome and ICD-11.

Objective: For many medical professionals dealing with patients with persistent pain following spine surgery, the term Failed back surgery syndrome (FBSS) as a diagnostic label is inadequate, misleading, and potentially troublesome. It misrepresents causation. Alternative terms have been suggested, but none has replaced FBSS.

Does Spinal Cord Stimulation Really Influence Sleep?

Background: To date, clinical pain research has typically used subjective questionnaires to assess effectiveness of treatment. However, in the near future, new technologies may provide us objective outcome measures as an alternative to self-report. The goal of this study is to compare subjective and objective sleep assessments in a population of failed back surgery syndrome (FBSS) patients, treated with spinal cord stimulation (SCS).
