Pooled safety analysis and management of sotorasib-related adverse events in KRAS G12C-mutated advanced non-small cell lung cancer.

Introduction: We describe the safety of sotorasib monotherapy in patients with KRAS G12C-mutated advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and discuss practical recommendations for managing key risks.

Methods: Incidence rates of treatment-related adverse events (TRAEs) were pooled from 4 clinical trials: CodeBreaK 100 (NCT03600883), CodeBreaK 101 (NCT04185883), CodeBreaK 105 (NCT04380753), and CodeBreaK 200 (NCT04303780) and graded according to CTCAE v5.0.

Is preoperative imaging of sentinel lymph node in breast cancer necessary? A retrospective case control study.

Objective: The necessity of preoperative lymphoscintigraphy before intraoperative sentinel lymph node (SLN) identification is still unclear. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the impact of SLN imaging on intraoperative SLN detection in breast cancer patients.

Purpose: The self-shielding radiosurgery system ZAP-X consists of a 3 MV linear accelerator and eight round collimators. For this system, it is a common practice to perform the reference dosimetry using the largest 25 mm diameter collimator at a source-to-axis distance (SAD) of 45 cm with the PTW Semiflex3D chamber placed at a measurement depth of 7 mm in water. Existing dosimetry protocols do not provide correction for these measurement conditions.

Methods: CHRYSALIS-2 Cohort A evaluated amivantamab+lazertinib in patients with EGFR exon 19 deletion- or L858R-mutated NSCLC with disease progression on/after osimertinib and platinum-based chemotherapy. Primary endpoint was investigator-assessed objective response rate (ORR).

Digital technologies, such as virtual and augmented reality (VR and AR) are mainly used in the preclinical and clinical phases in neurosurgery and orthopedics. In contrast, they are used less frequently in visceral surgery as the intraoperative deformation is challenging for the clinical use. The application of VR is used successfully particularly in education and training.

Advances in telemedicine, exemplified by augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR), are rapidly progressing. For instance, AR available over long distances has already been successfully utilized in crisis intervention, such as in war zones. The potential of telemedicine also appears promising in structurally weak areas or in the involvement of experts in emergency situations.

A unified deep-learning framework for enhanced patient-specific quality assurance of intensity-modulated radiation therapy plans.

Background: Modern radiation therapy techniques, such as intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and volumetric-modulated arc therapy (VMAT), use complex fluence modulation strategies to achieve optimal patient dose distribution. Ensuring their accuracy necessitates rigorous patient-specific quality assurance (PSQA), traditionally done through pretreatment measurements with detector arrays. While effective, these methods are labor-intensive and time-consuming.

[From imaging to interaction with 3D models: technical aspects].

Augmented and virtual reality (AR and VR, respectively) are already being used or evaluated in some medical fields: however, the widespread application is still hampered by inconsistent and often confusing terminology, in particular for people who are not familiar with current developments. Additionally, the technical principles and requirements for its use are often insufficiently well known. This overview article therefore aims to clarify the most important terminology and presents the current technical state of the art, spanning from the requirements of medical imaging, through 3D models and the various forms of visualization to the interaction possibilities within VR and AR.

Mechanism and Management of Aorto-Esophageal Fistulation after Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair.

An aorto-esophageal fistula (AOF) is a pathological communication between the thoracic aorta and the esophagus. It can induce life-threatening hematemesis, which is unique among the other types of gastrointestinal hemorrhage in that the vomiting is bright red and represents an arterial bleed. Nevertheless, it is notable that over 70% of cases are associated with thoracic aortic aneurysms, particularly as a postoperative complication following open surgery, and arguably more so following endovascular repair.

Despite the regenerative abilities of the peripheral nerve system (PNS), corneal nerve regeneration is often incomplete, and the underlying mechanisms are poorly understood. This study aims to identify potential factors that can enhance corneal nerve regeneration for NK treatment, with a focus on Lysophosphatidic acid (LPA).

Introduction: Periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) is a serious complication following primary total joint arthroplasty (TJA). PJI accounts for 15-25% of revision surgeries, therefore it is associated with PJI is associated with substantial patient morbidity and mortality as well as increased healthcare expenditures due to complex treatment strategies. Recently, intraoperative local application of vancomycin powder is increasingly being used in primary total hip and knee arthroplasty (THA, TKA) as an additive strategy for PJI prevention.

Effect of tibiofemoral alignment on simulated knee contact forces during gait in mechanically and kinematically aligned total knee arthroplasty patients.

The goal of the study was to apply a musculoskeletal knee model that considers individual tibiofemoral alignment (TFA) and to investigate its effect on knee contact force (KCF) during gait in mechanically (MA) and kinematically aligned (KA) total knee arthroplasty (TKA) patients. Total, medial, and lateral KCF was estimated from pre- and postoperative gait data of TKA patients (MA: n = 26, KA: n = 22). Preoperative KCF was compared between the generic and the adapted model using t-tests and statistical parametric mapping (SPM).

The Co-Occurrence of Medullary and Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma-A Literature Review Based on a Case Report.

The co-occurrence of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) and papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) is thought to be a rare phenomenon. Here, we present a patient undergoing surgery due to a suspected MTC. Histopathological workup confirmed the suspected diagnosis but also described an incidental PTC in the contralateral lobe with lymph node metastasis in the central cervical compartment.
