A growing body of evidence highlights the importance of microglia, the resident immune cells of the CNS, and their pro-inflammatory activation in the onset of many neurological diseases. Microglial proliferation, differentiation, and survival are highly dependent on the CSF-1 signaling pathway, which can be pharmacologically modulated by inhibiting its receptor, CSF-1R. Pharmacological inhibition of CSF-1R leads to an almost complete microglial depletion whereas treatment arrest allows for subsequent repopulation.

Data were obtained from five cross-sectional studies on 53,314 children and adolescents (age range: 6-16 years). Inflammatory Waldenström Macroglobulinemia is associated with clonal hematopoiesis: a multicentric cohort.

Inflammation in Waldenström Macroglobulinemia (iWM) predicts outcomes after immuno-chemotherapy and BTK inhibitors, but its origin is unknown. Here, we unravel increased clonal hematopoiesis in iWM patients (61% versus 23% in non-inflammatory WM), suggesting a contribution of environmental cells to iWM.

Background: Surgeons may discover perioperative clinical situations associated with an increased risk of peritoneal carcinomatosis recurrence after primary resection. We developed a thermogel that can be used as a drug carrier to deliver an anticancer agent in the peritoneal cavity as a rescue solution. The spatial distribution of the thermogel and pharmacokinetics of chemotherapy have been studied in pigs.

Clinico-pathological specificities of gingival carcinoma among 32 patients with oral cancer: a cross sectional retrospective and observational study.

Background: The study aimed to examine the prevalence of gingival cancers compared to other oral mucosal sites, analyze patient profiles, and identify risk factors.

Materials And Methods: A retrospective monocentric study was conducted at the Department of Oral Medicine of Bretonneau Hospital in Paris, France. 32 patients diagnosed with oral mucosal cancer were included.

: Periodontal therapy aims to arrest the progression of periodontal diseases and possibly to regenerate the periodontal apparatus. To shift healing from repair to regeneration, the blood clot that fills the periodontal defect and remains in contact with structures such as tooth root, mucosa and bone needs to be stable, which is a reason why the treatment of non-containing periodontal bone defects, in which the clot may undergo displacement, is challenging. The gingival soft tissue, properly sutured, may act as a wall for blood clot stabilization.

Olaparib as maintenance therapy in non resectable pancreatic adenocarcinoma associated with homologous recombination deficiency profile: A French retrospective multicentric AGEO real-world study.

Background: Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) has a poor prognosis. The POLO trial showed that olaparib (PARP inhibitor) improved progression-free survival (PFS) but not overall survival (OS), when used as maintenance therapy after ≥ 16 weeks of disease control with first-line platinum-based chemotherapy in patients with germline (g) BRCA 1 or 2 pathogenic variants (PV) metastatic PDAC. However, real-world data on the effectiveness of olaparib are missing.

Objective: This study explores the application of Line-field Confocal Optical Coherence Tomography (LC-OCT) imaging coupled with artificial intelligence (AI)-based algorithms to investigate atopic dermatitis (AD), a common inflammatory dermatosis.

Materials And Methods: AD acute and chronic lesions (ADL) were compared to clinically healthy-looking skin (ADNL). LC-OCT was used noninvasively and in real-time to image the skin of AD patients during flare-ups and monitor remissions under topical steroid treatment for 2 weeks.
