Background: The pressure gradient between the ventricles and the subarachnoid space (transmantle pressure) is crucial for understanding CSF circulation and the pathogenesis of certain neurodegenerative diseases. This pressure can be approximated by the pressure difference across the aqueduct (ΔP). Currently, no dedicated platform exists for quantifying ΔP, and no research has been conducted on the impact of breathing on ΔP.

Background: The Bari-SolidAct randomized controlled trial compared baricitinib with placebo in patients with severe COVID-19. A post hoc analysis revealed a higher incidence of serious adverse events (SAEs) among SARS-CoV-2-vaccinated participants who had received baricitinib. This sub-study aimed to investigate whether vaccination influences the safety profile of baricitinib in patients with severe COVID-19.

Understanding cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) dynamics is crucial for elucidating the pathogenesis and diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases. The primary mechanisms driving CSF oscillations remain a topic of debate. This study investigates whether cerebral blood volume displacement (CBV), modulated by breathing and cardiac activity, is the predominant drivers of CSF oscillations.

Background And Hypothesis: Cardiovascular diseases are a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Acute kidney injury (AKI) has been increasingly recognized as a potential exacerbating factor for cardiovascular events in these patients. The CKD-REIN study aims to explore the relationship between AKI and the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) in a cohort of CKD patients.

In March 2020, World Health Organization recognized severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) emergence as a public health emergency of international concern. One of the major preventative measures developed against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) was vaccines. To monitor their use and safety of vaccines from the first utilization in humans during clinical development phases to implementation for the general population, an enhanced national pharmacovigilance system was enabled by the French National Agency for Medicines and Health Products Safety in collaboration with the 30 Regional Pharmacovigilance Centres.

Laser interstitial thermal therapy (LITT) is a minimally invasive surgical treatment for drug-resistant, focal epilepsies. With MRI guidance, LITT can also be used to treat hypothalamic hamartoma. Here, we report on the first European case of LITT for hypothalamic hamartoma.

Objective: In our study, we aim to explore the structural differences between the aortic root and the pulmonary artery to better understand the process of pulmonary autograft dilatation during the Ross procedure.
Materials And Methods: We studied twenty human fetuses (aged 14-36 weeks of gestation) and four adults (one female and three males, aged 30-45 years, mean age = 37 ± 16 years). Samples of aortic root and pulmonary artery were obtained through dissection.

Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) is the seventh most common type of cancer worldwide. It is mainly discovered in a locally advanced stage, but it is estimated that 40% of recurrences after the treatment of the primary disease will be in a metastatic form, with one third being oligometastatic. There is no clear consensus regarding the treatment of oligometastatic HNSCC, whether it being local treatment, systemic treatment or a combination of both.

Background: Following the Monro-Kellie doctrine, the Cerebral Blood Volume Changes (CB_VC) should be mirrored by the Cerebrospinal Fluid Volume Changes (CSF_VC) at the spinal canal. Cervical level is often chosen to estimate CB_VC during the cardiac cycle. However, due to the heterogeneity in the anatomy of extracranial internal jugular veins and their high compliance, we hypothesize that the intracranial level could be a better choice to investigate blood and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) interactions.

Objectives: Vedolizumab and ustekinumab are effective in inducing and maintaining corticosteroid-free clinical remission (CFR) in adult patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). This study describes the efficacy and safety of vedolizumab and ustekinumab in pediatric IBD.
Methods: All patients ≤18 years of age with Crohn's disease (CD) or ulcerative colitis (UC) treated with vedolizumab or ustekinumab in three centers in Northern France were followed retrospectively.

In cranio-cervico-facial reconstructive surgery, it is accepted that the use of free flaps is the treatment of choice. The multiple antecedents can place the surgeon in situations of vascular deserts. The aim of our study is to report and analyse our experience of the use of temporal vessels in primary and secondary reconstructive surgery.

The treatment of Mycobacterium avium infections is still long, complex, and often poorly tolerated, besides emergence of resistances. New active molecules that are more effective and better tolerated are deeply needed. Mefloquine and its enantiomers ((+) Erythro-mefloquine ((+)-EMQ) and (-)-Erythro-mefloquine ((-)-EMQ)) have shown efficacy in both in vitro and in vivo, in a mouse model of M.

According to the European Union (EU) Directive 2005/36, the medical specialty of oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMFS) exists with two possible formats: dual degree OMFS called Dental, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (DOMFS) - basic medical and basic dental training and single medical degree Maxillofacial Surgery (MFS). Within the EU and across all of Europe, differences in the nature and quality of OMFS training coexist. By implementing the highest possible standards of training, patient care can be improved.

Background And Objectives: Deep brain stimulation (DBS) is a well-established treatment for Parkinson disease (PD), with programming methods continually evolving. This study aimed to compare the efficacy and patient burden between conventional ring-mode programming (CP-RM) and image-guided volume of tissue activated (IG-VTA) programming for subthalamic nucleus (STN) DBS in PD.
Methods: In this retrospective study, patients with PD who underwent STN-DBS between 2011 and 2014 (CP-RM group) and 2019 and 2021 (IG-VTA group) were evaluated.

Introduction: Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HCST) is a widely used therapy in the management of hematological malignancies, leading to cytopenias that require transient transfusions. Platelet recovery (PR) following HSCT is assessed by monitoring platelet count (PC). Immature platelet fraction (IPF) is a research parameter offered by Sysmex® on XN series analyzers, enabling rapid diagnostic orientation in the event of thrombocytopenia.
