Center for Lightweight Materials, Design, and Manufacturing, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), Bangmod, Bangkok, 10140, Thailand; OsseoLabs Co. Ltd., Bangkok, 10400, Thailand. Electronic address:

Sacral chordoma, an invasive tumor, necessitates surgical removal of the tumor and the affected region of the sacrum, disrupting the spinopelvic connection. Conventional reconstruction methods, relying on rod and screw systems, often face challenges such as rod failure, sub-optimal stability, and limited osseointegration. This study proposes a novel design for a porous-based sacral reconstruction prosthesis.

Article Synopsis
  • Amphotericin B (AmB) is a strong antifungal and antiparasitic drug that kills leishmanial parasites by disrupting their cell membranes, making it important to study its effects on parasites like Leishmania orientalis to understand potential drug resistance.
  • This study involved exposing a specific Leishmania orientalis strain to AmB and analyzing genetic changes through sequencing methods, focusing on single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and gene expression changes.
  • The results indicated no significant chromosomal alterations post-treatment, but a higher incidence of SNPs in the control group, along with the downregulation of key genes, suggesting complex regulatory mechanisms might contribute to AmB resistance in this strain.

Hematoxylin and eosin (H&E)-stained slides inevitably deteriorate over time, frequently becoming unreadable. Reutilizing these slides can reduce the need for additional serial sections, particularly when the target region is no longer available in the tissue block. This study aims to develop efficient protocols for recycling faded H&E-stained slides, providing benefits for future research on stored samples.

Background: Subcutaneous panniculitis-like T-cell lymphoma (SPTCL) is a rare subtype of non-Hodgkin lymphoma associated with hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH)/HLH-like systemic illnesses and germline HAVCR2 mutations. Although previous studies suggested successful treatment of SPTCL with immunosuppressive therapy (IST) without chemotherapy, IST data in pediatric SPTCL remain scarce. To explore characteristics and therapeutic outcomes, comparing IST-based and chemotherapy-based regimens in pediatric SPTCL, in this retrospective cohort study, patients with SPTCL diagnosed at age ≤20 years during 2007-2023 were enrolled from 6 hematology/oncology centers in Thailand.

Objectives: This feasibility study evaluated the effectiveness of Support-Engage-Empower-Diabetes (SEE-Diabetes), a patient-centered educational tool designed to promote shared decision-making of diabetes management in older adults. We aimed to assess SEE-Diabetes's ability to facilitate patient engagement and collaborative goal setting, as measured by the Observational Patient Involvement (OPTION) scale and Shared Decision-Making Questionnaire (SDM-Q-Doc). We hypothesized that these instruments would effectively differentiate between healthcare providers who actively leveraged SEE-Diabetes to guide patient-centric conversations and set goals compared to those who did not.

Background: Previous house dust mite subcutaneous immunotherapy (HDM SCIT) placebo-controlled trials have small sample sizes and lack a consensus on baseline treatment.

Objective: To determine the efficacy of HDM SCIT in moderate-to-severe allergic rhinitis (AR) patients treated with an intranasal corticosteroid at baseline.

Methods: We conducted a randomized, placebo-controlled trial comparing HDM SCIT against placebo in Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus (Der p) sensitized.
