Peripheral blood stem cell versus bone marrow graft for patients ≥60 years undergoing reduced intensity conditioning haploidentical transplantation for acute myeloid leukemia in complete remission: An analysis of the Acute Leukemia Working Party of the European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation.

In the context of T-cell replete haploidentical stem cell transplantation (Haplo-SCT) using post-transplantation cyclophosphamide (PT-Cy), it is still unknown whether peripheral blood (PB) or bone marrow (BM) is the best graft source. While PB is associated with a higher incidence of graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), it may induce a stronger graft-versus-leukemia effect compared to BM, notably in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). From the EBMT registry database, we compared T-cell replete PB (n = 595) versus BM (n = 209) grafts in a large cohort of 804 patients over the age of 60 years who underwent Haplo-SCT with PT-Cy for an AML in first or second complete remission.

Prevalence and knowledge about acute mountain sickness in the Western Alps.

Objective: To assess the prevalence of acute mountain sickness (AMS) in 1370 mountaineers at four different altitudes in the Western Alps. We also examined the influence of potential risk factors and the knowledge about AMS on its prevalence.

Methods: In this observational cross-sectional study AMS was assessed on the day of ascent by the Lake Louise score (LLS, cut-off ≥3, version 2018) and the AMS-Cerebral (AMS-C) score of the environmental symptom questionnaire (cut-off ≥0,70).

Reduced 8-Gray Compared to Standard 12-Gray Total Body Irradiation for Allogeneic Transplantation in First Remission Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia: A Study of the Acute Leukemia Working Party of the EBMT.

In this registry-based study, we compared outcomes of allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (allo-HCT) in adult patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) transplanted in first complete remission (CR-1), following conditioning with total body irradiation (TBI) at a standard 12-Gray or at a lower 8-Gray total dose. Patients received fludarabine (flu) as the sole chemotherapy complementing TBI. Eight-Gray TBI/flu was used in 494 patients and 12-Gray TBI/flu in 145 patients.

Tear inflammation related indexes after cataract surgery in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Background: Quantitative studies on the changes in inflammation-related content in tears, especially the effect of diabetes, are lacking. In this study, we measured the preoperative and postoperative tear inflammatory mediator levels in cataract patients, focusing on the expression of inflammatory factors in postoperative cataracts in the diabetic, and investigated the effect of drugs on the control of postoperative inflammation.

Aim: To study the expression of inflammatory factors in elderly people with type 2 diabetes after cataract surgery.

3D-Frameworks and 2D-networks of lanthanide coordination polymers with 3-pyridylpyrazole: photophysical and magnetic properties.

A series of 15 lanthanide-containing coordination polymers, both 3D- and 2D-networks, as well as complexes of Ln-trichlorides with 3-(3-pyridyl)pyrazole (3-PyPzH), were synthesized. A large structural diversity is observed depending on the ligand content: 3∞[Ln(3-PyPzH)Cl], Ln = Eu and Gd, of topology, 2∞[Sm(3-PyPzH)Cl], 2∞[Ln(3-PyPzH)Cl]·2solv, Ln = Eu, Tb, Dy, Ho and Er, solv = Tol and MeCN, of topology and 2∞[Ln(3-PyPzH)Cl], Ln = La and Nd, of topology with salt like complexes of the formula [(3-PyPzH)][Ln(3-PyPzH)Cl], Ln = Eu, Tb, Dy and Ho. Long-term outcomes of stroke unit care in older stroke patients: a retrospective cohort study.

The optimal conditioning regimen prior haploidentical stem cell transplantation (Haplo-SCT) with post transplantation cyclophosphamide (PT-Cy) for acute myeloid leukemia (AML) remains unknown. A non-myeloablative conditioning (NMAC) regimen (cyclophosphamide + fludarabine + TBI 2 Gy [CyFluTBI]) is a safe approach, but relapse incidence remains high in this setting. Alternatively, a reduced intensity conditioning (RIC) regimen combining thiotepa and reduced-dose busulfan with fludarabine (TBF) may decrease AML relapse.

Therapist Interventions and Skills as Predictors of Dropout in Outpatient Psychotherapy.

The current study employed machine learning to investigate whether the inclusion of observer-rated therapist interventions and skills in early sessions of psychotherapy improved dropout prediction beyond intake assessments. Patients were treated by postgraduate clinicians at a university outpatient clinic. Background: Myasthenic crisis (MC) requiring mechanical ventilation (MV) is a rare and serious complication of myasthenia gravis. Serpent/dGATAb regulates Laminin B1 and Laminin B2 expression during Drosophila embryogenesis.

Transcriptional regulation of Laminin expression during embryogenesis is a key step required for proper ECM assembly. We show, that in Drosophila the Laminin B1 and Laminin B2 genes share expression patterns in mesodermal cells as well as in endodermal and ectodermal gut primordia, yolk and amnioserosa. In the absence of the GATA transcription factor Serpent, the spatial extend of Laminin reporter gene expression was strongly limited, indicating that Laminin expression in many tissues depends on Serpent activity.

Second allogeneic stem cell transplantation in patients with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia: a study on behalf of the Acute Leukaemia Working Party of the European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation.

Although second allogeneic haematopoietic cell transplantation (allo-HCT2) is a therapeutic option for patients relapsing after first HCT (allo-HCT1), there is limited data on allo-HCT2 in patients with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL). We retrospectively studied 245 patients receiving allo-HCT2 as a salvage treatment for relapse following allo-HCT1 between the 2000 and 2017. Hippocampal activation during extinction learning predicts occurrence of the renewal effect in extinction recall.

The renewal effect describes the reoccurrence of a previously extinguished response in situations where the context of extinction differs from that of acquisition, thus illustrating the context-dependency of extinction learning. A number of studies on contextual fear extinction have implicated hippocampus and vmPFC in processing and retrieval of context both during extinction learning and recall of extinction. In this functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) study we explored the neural correlates of the renewal effect in associative learning, using a predictive learning task that required participants to learn relations between cues and outcomes presented in particular contexts.

The purpose of the present study was to transfer aqueous PEG-PCL-PEI nano-suspensions into dry ready-to-use formulations, suitable for delivery of siRNA. Synthesis, characterization and properties of a new polymerisable surfactant: 12-methacryloyl dodecylphosphocholine.

A new polymerizable surfactant, 12-methacryloyl dodecylphosphocholine (MDPC), has been synthesized using a three-step procedure in moderate yield.
