In the context of T-cell replete haploidentical stem cell transplantation (Haplo-SCT) using post-transplantation cyclophosphamide (PT-Cy), it is still unknown whether peripheral blood (PB) or bone marrow (BM) is the best graft source. While PB is associated with a higher incidence of graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), it may induce a stronger graft-versus-leukemia effect compared to BM, notably in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). From the EBMT registry database, we compared T-cell replete PB (n = 595) versus BM (n = 209) grafts in a large cohort of 804 patients over the age of 60 years who underwent Haplo-SCT with PT-Cy for an AML in first or second complete remission.

A series of 15 lanthanide-containing coordination polymers, both 3D- and 2D-networks, as well as complexes of Ln-trichlorides with 3-(3-pyridyl)pyrazole (3-PyPzH), were synthesized. A large structural diversity is observed depending on the ligand content: 3∞[Ln(3-PyPzH)Cl], Ln = Eu and Gd, of topology, 2∞[Sm(3-PyPzH)Cl], 2∞[Ln(3-PyPzH)Cl]·2solv, Ln = Eu, Tb, Dy, Ho and Er, solv = Tol and MeCN, of topology and 2∞[Ln(3-PyPzH)Cl], Ln = La and Nd, of topology with salt like complexes of the formula [(3-PyPzH)][Ln(3-PyPzH)Cl], Ln = Eu, Tb, Dy and Ho. The products were characterized by single-crystal and powder X-ray diffraction, high-temperature X-ray diffraction, differential thermal analysis and thermogravimetry (DTA/TG) combined with mass spectrometry, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), IR-spectroscopy, UV-visible spectrophotometry, photoluminescence spectroscopy, and magnetic susceptibility.

The optimal conditioning regimen prior haploidentical stem cell transplantation (Haplo-SCT) with post transplantation cyclophosphamide (PT-Cy) for acute myeloid leukemia (AML) remains unknown. A non-myeloablative conditioning (NMAC) regimen (cyclophosphamide + fludarabine + TBI 2 Gy [CyFluTBI]) is a safe approach, but relapse incidence remains high in this setting. Alternatively, a reduced intensity conditioning (RIC) regimen combining thiotepa and reduced-dose busulfan with fludarabine (TBF) may decrease AML relapse.

Transcriptional regulation of Laminin expression during embryogenesis is a key step required for proper ECM assembly. We show, that in Drosophila the Laminin B1 and Laminin B2 genes share expression patterns in mesodermal cells as well as in endodermal and ectodermal gut primordia, yolk and amnioserosa. In the absence of the GATA transcription factor Serpent, the spatial extend of Laminin reporter gene expression was strongly limited, indicating that Laminin expression in many tissues depends on Serpent activity.

Although second allogeneic haematopoietic cell transplantation (allo-HCT2) is a therapeutic option for patients relapsing after first HCT (allo-HCT1), there is limited data on allo-HCT2 in patients with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL). We retrospectively studied 245 patients receiving allo-HCT2 as a salvage treatment for relapse following allo-HCT1 between the 2000 and 2017. The median age at allo-HCT2 was 34·6 years (range: 18-74).

The microbiome influences adaptive immunity and molecular mimicry influences T cell reactivity. Here, we evaluated whether the sequence similarity of various antigens to the microbiota dampens or increases immunogenicity of T cell epitopes. Sets of epitopes and control sequences derived from 38 antigenic categories (infectious pathogens, allergens, autoantigens) were retrieved from the Immune Epitope Database (IEDB).

Objective: Since almost two decades standard 1st-line chemotherapy for advanced ovarian cancer (AOC) has been a platinum/taxane combination. More recently, this general strategy has been challenged because different types of AOC may not benefit homogenously. Low-grade serous ovarian cancer (LGSOC) is one of the candidates in whom efficacy of standard chemotherapy should be revised.

Mesoaxial synostotic syndactyly, Malik-Percin type (MSSD) (syndactyly type IX) is a rare autosomal-recessive nonsyndromic digit anomaly with only two affected families reported so far. We previously showed that the trait is genetically distinct from other syndactyly types, and through autozygosity mapping we had identified a locus on chromosome 17p13.3 for this unique limb malformation.

DNA sequencing is increasingly being used to assist in species identification in order to overcome taxonomic impediment. However, few studies attempt to compare the results of these molecular studies with a more traditional species delineation approach based on morphological characters. Mitochondrial DNA Cytochrome oxidase subunit 1 (CO1) gene was sequenced, measuring 636 base pairs, from 47 ants of the genus Pheidole (Formicidae: Myrmicinae) collected in the Brazilian Atlantic Forest to test whether the morphology-based assignment of individuals into species is supported by DNA-based species delimitation.

The renewal effect describes the reoccurrence of a previously extinguished response in situations where the context of extinction differs from that of acquisition, thus illustrating the context-dependency of extinction learning. A number of studies on contextual fear extinction have implicated hippocampus and vmPFC in processing and retrieval of context both during extinction learning and recall of extinction. In this functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) study we explored the neural correlates of the renewal effect in associative learning, using a predictive learning task that required participants to learn relations between cues and outcomes presented in particular contexts.

Timely and accurate diagnosis of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is critical in order to provide adequate treatment to patients. However, the clinical signs and symptoms of PDAC are shared by several types of malignant or benign tumors which may be difficult to differentiate from PDAC with conventional diagnostic procedures. Among others, these include ampullary cancers, solid pseudopapillary tumors, and adenocarcinomas of the distant bile duct, as well as inflammatory masses developing in chronic pancreatitis.

Cortical efferences to the heart are important for cardiovascular health, psychopathology, emotion regulation and other dimensions of human functioning. Although researchers have already begun to outline the underlying neuroanatomy, the timing of neurovisceral communication in humans is difficult to study non-invasively. A possible coupling between the brain and the heart can be observed following feedback stimuli, which have been shown to evoke both, early (i.
