Multiple myeloma (MM) is characterized by the accumulation of malignant plasma cells preferentially in the bone marrow. Background: This case study evaluates the diagnosis and treatment of a 12 year old Caucasian male gymnast who had several diagnoses including an isolated first rib fracture, resultant pseudoarthrosis of the first rib, and the development of symptomatic thoracic outlet syndrome. We discuss the causes, prevalence, and suggestions for prompt diagnosis and treatment of these conditions in pediatric patients. Although all three conditions are rare in a child, this case highlights the importance of having a high clinical index of suspicion in recurrent pain in pre-pubertal athletes.

Purpose: Our study investigates whether graph-based fusion of imaging data with non-imaging electronic health records (EHR) data can improve the prediction of the disease trajectories for patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) beyond the prediction performance of only imaging or non-imaging EHR data.

Approach: We present a fusion framework for fine-grained clinical outcome prediction [discharge, intensive care unit (ICU) admission, or death] that fuses imaging and non-imaging information using a similarity-based graph structure. Node features are represented by image embedding, and edges are encoded with clinical or demographic similarity.

McDowell's Evolutionary Theory of Behavior Dynamics (ETBD) has been shown to model a wide range of live organism behavior with excellent descriptive accuracy. Recently, artificial organisms (AOs) animated by the ETBD were shown to replicate the resurgence of a target response following downshifts in the density of reinforcement for an alternative response and across repeated iterations of the traditional three-phase resurgence paradigm in a manner commensurate with nonhuman subjects. In the current investigation, we successfully replicated an additional study that used this traditional three-phase resurgence paradigm with human participants.

Recent studies have shown that RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp), 3-chymotrypsin-like protease (3CLpro), and papain-like protease (PLpro) are necessary for SARS-CoV-2 replication. Among these three enzymes, PLpro exhibits both proteolytic and deubiquitinase (DUB) activity and is responsible for disrupting the host's innate immune response against SARS-CoV-2.
