Venous thromboembolic disease remains a leading cause of maternal morbidity and mortality. We report a case of a 30-year-old woman at 37 gestation with a history of thalassaemia intermedia and splenectomy. During pregnancy, she had been managed with frequent blood transfusions and enoxaparin.

Namodenoson (CF102) is a small, orally available, anti-inflammatory, and anti-cancer drug candidate currently in phase 2B trial for the treatment of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH; formerly known as non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH)) and in phase 3 pivotal clinical trial for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). In both MASH and HCC, the mechanism-of-action of namodenoson involves targeting the A3 adenosine receptor (A3AR), resulting in deregulation of downstream signaling pathways and leading to inhibition of inflammatory cytokines (TNF-α, IL-1, IL-6, and IL-8) and stimulation of positive cytokines (G-CSF and adiponectin). Subsequently, inhibition of liver inflammation, steatosis, and fibrosis were documented in MASH experimental models, and inhibition of HCC growth was observed in vitro, in vivo, and in clinical studies.

We aim to evaluate the incidence of incontinence following laser endoscopic enucleation of the prostate (EEP) comparing en-bloc (Group 1) versus 2-lobe/3-lobe techniques (Group 2). We performed a retrospective review of patients undergoing EEP for benign prostatic enlargement in 12 centers between January 2020 and January 2022. Data were presented as median and interquartile range (IQR).

Importance: Acute infectious conjunctivitis is a common ocular condition with major public health consequences.
Objective: To assess regional variations and microbial etiologies of acute infectious conjunctivitis to guide treatment.
Design, Setting, And Participants: In this cross-sectional study, patients with presumed acute infectious conjunctivitis were enrolled in the study at 5 sites (Honolulu, Hawaii; Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Diego, California; and Petah-Tikva, Israel) from March 2021 to March 2023.

Intrasaccular flow diversion is a new endovascular option for managing unruptured intracranial aneurysms.1-6 However, catheter ejection can occur during placement of an intrasaccular flow diverter, especially in tortuous vasculature that creates unfavorable angles between the aneurysm neck and the parent vessel.5 The Bendit steerable microcatheter (Bendit Technologies, Petah Tikva, Israel) can dynamically change its tip angle and may mitigate these placement concerns.

Takotsubo cardiomyopathy is characterised by reversible systolic dysfunction resulting from catecholamine-induced vasospasm, mainly triggered by intense emotional or physical stress. Adding adrenaline to arthroscopic irrigation solution enhances visibility by minimising bleeding. However, there is a risk of complications due to systemic absorption.

Background Various hemodynamic changes occur following transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) that may impact therapeutic decisions. NICaS is a noninvasive bioimpedance monitoring system aimed at hemodynamic assessment. We used the NICaS system in patients with severe aortic stenosis (AS) to evaluate short-term hemodynamic changes after TAVI.

Pulmonary aspiration is a potentially lethal perioperative complication related to gastric size and contents. Several perioperative factors are believed to increase gastric size, while others are less studied. This prospective observational study aimed to investigate the effect of preoperative anxiety and hormone-induced ovarian stimulation on gastric size examined by gastric ultrasound.

Disease Overview: Waldenström macroglobulinemia (WM) is a lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma with immunoglobulin M (IgM) monoclonal protein. Clinical features include anemia, thrombocytopenia, hepatosplenomegaly, lymphadenopathy, and rarely hyperviscosity.
Diagnosis: Presence of IgM monoclonal protein associated with ≥10% clonal lymphoplasmacytic cells in bone marrow confirms the diagnosis.

The A3 adenosine receptor (A3AR) is overexpressed in pathological human cells. Piclidenoson and namodenoson are A3AR agonists with high affinity and selectivity to A3AR. Both induce apoptosis of cancer and inflammatory cells via a molecular mechanism entailing deregulation of the Wnt and the NF-κB signaling pathways.

Background: Electrical biosensing technology (EBT) is an umbrella term for non-invasive technology utilizing the body's fluctuating resistance to electrical current flow to estimate cardiac output. Monitoring cardiac output in neonates may allow for timely recognition of hemodynamic compromise and allow for prompt therapy, thereby mitigating adverse outcomes. For a new technology to be safely used in the clinical environment for therapeutic decisions, it must be proven to be accurate, precise and be able to track temporal changes.

Background: Variants in have been recently associated with a spectrum of neurological disease encompassing isolated dystonia to fever-related neurological decompensation, movement disorders and leukodystrophy.
Case: A 32-year old patient presented with childhood-onset episodes of neurological decompensation after febrile illness, progressive anarthria, dystonia and spasticity. The T2/FLAIR MRI showed bilateral posterolateral putamen hyperintensities and white matter changes suggestive of leukodystrophy.
