Agreement of Clinician-Administered and Modified Parent-Administered House-Brackmann Scales in Children with Bell's Palsy.

Objective: Currently there is no parent administered scale for facial nerve function in children. We set out to assess the agreement between a newly developed parent-administered modified version of the House-Brackmann (HB) scale and the standard clinician-administered HB scale in children with Bell's palsy.

Study Design: Secondary analysis of a triple-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial of corticosteroids to treat idiopathic facial paralysis (Bell's palsy) in children (6 months to <18 years).

We aimed to review the early and long-term impact of Fontan fenestration in the Australia and New Zealand cohort. Methods and Results We reviewed 1443 patients (621 fenestrated, 822 nonfenestrated) from the Australia and New Zealand Fontan registry.

Paraspinal desmoid fibromatosis after lumbar epidural analgesia.

A 14-year-old girl with cerebral palsy presented for bilateral lower limb surgery for spasticity. A lumbar epidural catheter was sited under general anaesthesia on the third attempt and used intra-operatively with good effect. A local anaesthetic infusion was used for postoperative analgesia but was noted to be leaking under the dressing with a patchy, unilateral block.

RACHS - ANZ : A Modified Risk Adjustment in Congenital Heart Surgery Model for Outcome Surveillance in Australia and New Zealand.

Background Outcomes for pediatric cardiac surgery are commonly reported from international databases compiled from voluntary data submissions. Surgical outcomes for all children in a country or region are less commonly reported. We aimed to describe the bi-national population-based outcome for children undergoing cardiac surgery in Australia and New Zealand and determine whether the Risk Adjustment for Congenital Heart Surgery ( RACHS ) classification could be used to create a model that accurately predicts in-hospital mortality in this population.
