Carbapenem-resistant (CRE) are a global health threat due to their high morbidity and mortality rates and limited treatment options. This study examines the plasmid-mediated transmission of virulence and antibiotic resistance determinants in carbapenem-resistant () and () isolated from Russian hospitals. : We performed short- and long-read whole-genome sequencing of 53 clinical isolates (48 and 5 ) attributed to 15 genetic lineages and collected from 21 hospitals across nine Russian cities between 2016 and 2022.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to analyze clinical data from patients with non-obstructive ischemic heart disease (IHD) and multifocal atherosclerosis (MFA) in the KAMMA registry, focusing on those who underwent coronary angiography (CAG).
  • Out of 1,893 IHD patients, only 8.7% had non-obstructive coronary atherosclerosis (CA), with many affected by MFA in various arteries, especially the brachiocephalic and lower extremity arteries.
  • Patients with non-obstructive CA, predominantly women, had fewer traditional risk factors like smoking and diabetes, but higher cholesterol levels; they also experienced less severe IHD and acute coronary syndrome compared to those with obstructive

Article Synopsis
  • A study examined how different reasons for testing for Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) affect treatment prescriptions and their success rates across Europe from 2013 to 2023.
  • Out of 53,636 cases, the most common reasons for testing included dyspepsia with normal endoscopy and various types of ulcers, with treatment effectiveness ranging from 87% to 91% based on the indication.
  • Patients with ulcers and preneoplastic lesions experienced higher treatment success and compliance, while those tested for dyspepsia had higher rates of adverse effects.

Human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) is overexpressed in numerous cancer cell types. Therapeutic antibodies and chimeric antigen receptors (CARs) against HER2 were developed to treat human tumors. The major limitation of anti-HER2 CAR-T lymphocyte therapy is attributable to the low HER2 expression in a wide range of normal tissues.

Study Question: Which processes and transcription factors specify the first and second lineage segregation events during human preimplantation development?

Summary Answer: Differentiation into trophectoderm (TE) cells can be initiated independently of polarity; moreover, TEAD1 and YAP1 co-localize in (precursor) TE and primitive endoderm (PrE) cells, suggesting a role in both the first and the second lineage segregation events.

What Is Known Already: We know that polarity, YAP1/GATA3 signalling and phospholipase C signalling play a key role in TE initiation in compacted human embryos, however, little is known about the TEAD family of transcription factors that become activated by YAP1 and, especially, whether they play a role during epiblast (EPI) and PrE formation. In mouse embryos, polarized outer cells show nuclear TEAD4/YAP1 activity that upregulates Cdx2 and Gata3 expression while inner cells exclude YAP1 which upregulates Sox2 expression.

Kommerell's diverticulum (KD) is a rare congenital vascular abnormality due to the formation of an abnormal aortic arch, most commonly associated with dilatation at the proximal part of the aberrant subclavian artery. This article describes an option of surgical treatment in a patient with KD. The proposed new technique of aortic arch surgical reconstruction with a stent-graft placement in the descending aorta reduces CPB time, aortic clamp and circulatory arrest time.

This study describes the problems of the implementation of the fourth universal definition of myocardial infarction in the medical institutions of four cities: Volgograd (with Volzhsky), Yekaterinburg, Perm, Ufa, and districts of the Volgograd region. The multicenter study was conducted in the form of a questionnaire of specialists in cardiology and laboratory services. After a survey of cardiac specialists, it was found that a third of them did not see the benefits of the hs-cTn test recommended for the diagnosis of myocardial infarction, and almost half of the specialists surveyed believed that myoglobin was a necessary test for detecting myocardial infarction.

Article Synopsis
  • This study investigated the causes and trends in the prevalence and mortality rates of chronic heart failure (CHF) in the European part of the Russian Federation over a 20-year period, focusing on treatment coverage and patient outcomes.
  • The research revealed a decrease in major CHF symptoms but an increase in the overall prevalence of cardiovascular diseases, with the prevalence of CHF functional classes rising from 6.1% to 8.2%.
  • Key causes of CHF were identified as arterial hypertension and ischemic heart disease, and while treatment options improved, the prognosis remained poor, with median survival times of 8.4 years for less severe cases and 3.8 years for more severe cases.

The aim of the study was to elucidate of changes in the level of lipid peroxidation products in saliva for the development of a method for the early diagnosis of complications in dental implantation. The study included 53 patients with complications of implant treatment, 31 patients with a safe outcome of dental implantation, and 13 clinically healthy individuals. In the saliva obtained at the stage of preparation for dental implantation, the content of products of lipid peroxidation was determined.
