Quantifying changes in soil organic carbon (SOC) stocks within croplands across a broad spatiotemporal scale in response to anthropogenic and environmental factors offers valuable insights for sustainable agriculture aimed to improve soil health. Using a validated and widely used soil carbon model RothC, we simulated the SOC dynamics across intensive croplands in China that support ∼22 % of the global population using only 7 % of the global cropland area. The modelling results demonstrate that the optimized RothC effectively captures SOC dynamics measured across 29 long-term field trials during 40 years.

In this study, we present an inexpensive, stable, and easily available boryl radical source (BPhNa) employed in a Halogen Atom Transfer (XAT) methodology. This mild and convenient strategy unlocks the use of not only alkyl iodides as radical precursors but also of the more challenging alkyl and aryl bromides to generate C-centered radicals. The generated radicals were further engaged in the -Markovnikov hydroalkylation of electronically diverse styrenes, therefore achieving the formation of C(sp)-C(sp) and C(sp)-C(sp) bonds.

Tailor-made unsaturated coordination of metal ions or organic linkers in zeolitic imidazole frameworks (ZIFs) has great potential in tuning the ZIFs' properties and reactivity for their applications. Taking advantage of the solid-state thermal (SST) method as a facile and eco-friendly synthesis method, the rational coordination of metal ions with imidazole ligands in ZIF-67 through the SST method is investigated. The rational precursor ratio (metal-to-ligand source) under the solvent-free SST method emerges as a perfect strategy to tune the coordinately unsaturated sites within the ZIF-67 frameworks.

The objective of the present narrative review was to synthesize existing clinical and epidemiological findings linking manganese (Mn) exposure biomarkers to autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and to discuss key pathophysiological mechanisms of neurodevelopmental disorders that may be affected by this metal. Existing epidemiological data demonstrated both direct and inverse association between Mn body burden and ASD, or lack of any relationship. In contrast, the majority of studies revealed significantly higher Mn levels in subjects with ADHD, as well as direct relationship between Mn body burden with hyperactivity and inattention scores in children, although several studies reported contradictory results.
