This review presents an analysis of domestic and foreign literature on the issues of fixation of facial epitheses and combined maxillofacial prostheses, such as the use of craniofacial implants installed in the zygomatic bone, brow arches, orbital walls, mastoid process of the temporal bone with beam or magnetic beam fixation systems. The advantages and disadvantages of such fastening systems are described. The analysis and systematization of available data on medical adhesive compositions that can be used in maxillofacial prosthetics to hold facial epitheses has been carried out.

A variety of ribo-, 2'-deoxyribo-, and 5'-norcarbocyclic derivatives of the 8-aza-7-deazahypoxanthine fleximer scaffolds were designed, synthesized, and screened for antibacterial activity. Both chemical and chemoenzymatic methods of synthesis for the 8-aza-7-deazainosine fleximers were compared. In the case of the 8-aza-7-deazahypoxanthine fleximer, the transglycosylation reaction proceeded with the formation of side products.

Data from 156 autopsies of COVID-19 patients were retrospectively analyzed to investigate the pattern of thrombotic complications and factors associated with pulmonary artery thrombosis and thromboembolism. Thrombotic complications were observed in a significant proportion ( = 68, 44%), with pulmonary artery thrombosis the most frequently identified thrombotic event (42, 27%).

Infections are important factors contributing to the morbidity and mortality among elderly patients. High rates of consumption of antimicrobial agents by the elderly may result in increased risk of toxic reactions, deteriorating functions of various organs and systems and leading to the prolongation of hospital stay, admission to the intensive care unit, disability, and lethal outcome. Both safety and efficacy of antibiotics are determined by the values of their plasma concentrations, widely affected by physiologic and pathologic age-related changes specific for the elderly population.

Barrett's esophagus (BE) is a premalignant lesion that can develop into esophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC). The development of Barrett's esophagus is caused by biliary reflux, which causes extensive mutagenesis in the stem cells of the epithelium in the distal esophagus and gastro-esophageal junction.
