The etiology and pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease (AD) are complex, and currently, no comprehensive treatment measures exist. In this study, we initially utilized ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography with quadrupole orbitrap mass spectrometry (UHPLC-QE-MS) to profile the bioactive constituents of SZLOL present in the bloodstream. Subsequent Y-maze experimental data demonstrated that SZLOL could ameliorate short-term memory deficits in APP/PS1 mice.

Structural or electrophysiologic cardiac anomalies may compromise cardiac function, leading to sudden cardiac death (SCD). Genetic screening of families with severe cardiomyopathies underlines the role of genetic variations in cardiac-specific genes. The present study details the clinical and genetic characterization of a malignant dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) case in a 1-year-old Mexican child who presented a severe left ventricular dilation and dysfunction that led to SCD.

The quality of Chinese materia medica (CMM) is a challenging and focused topic in the modernization of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). A profound comprehension of the morphology, structure, active constituents, and dynamic changes during the whole process of CMM growth is essential, which needs highly precise contemporary techniques for in-depth elucidation. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a cutting-edge tool integrating the benefits of both nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy and imaging technology.

In this study, 34 deep eutectic solvents (DESs) were successfully prepared for the extraction of proanthocyanidin from Rhodiolae Crenulatae Radix et Rhizomes. The extraction process was optimized using single factor exploration and Box-Behnken design-response surface analysis. The extraction rate was significantly improved when the molar ratio of choline chloride to 1,3-propanediol was 1:3.

Background: Acacetin (AC) is a flavonoid compound with antiperoxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antiplasmodial activity. However, the solubility of AC is poor and nano acacetin (Nano AC) was synthesized. The intestinal mucosal barrier is impaired in sepsis rats, and the protective effects and mechanism of AC and Nano AC on the intestinal mucosal barrier are unclear.

Breast cancer surgery plays a pivotal role in the multidisciplinary approaches. Surgical techniques and objectives are gradually shifting from tumor complete resection towards prolonging survival, improving cosmetic outcomes, and restoring the social and psychological well-being of patients. However, surgical treatment still faces challenges such as inadequate sensitivity in sentinel lymph node localization, the need to improve intraoperative tumor boundary localization imaging, postoperative scar healing, and the risk of recurrence, necessitating other adjunct measures for improvement.

The shelf life of 2D MXenes in functional devices and colloidal dispersions is compromised due to oxidation in the aqueous system. Herein, a systematic investigation was carried out to explore the potential of various amino compounds as antioxidants for TiCT MXenes. A range of basic, acidic, and neutral amino acids were examined for their effectiveness, where certain antioxidants failed to protect MXenes from oxidation, while others accelerated their decomposition.

The chemical recycling of polystyrene (PS) waste to value-added aromatic compounds is an attractive but formidable challenge due to the inertness of the C-C bonds in the polymer backbone. Here we develop a light-driven, copper-catalyzed protocol to achieve aerobic oxidation of various alkylarenes or real-life PS waste to benzoic acid and oxidized styrene oligomers. The resulting oligomers can be further transformed under heating conditions, thus achieving benzoic acid in up to 65% total yield through an integrated one-pot two-step procedure.

Alkali activation is a common method to prepare commercial porous carbon. In a mixed alkali activation system, the role of each individual alkali has generally been assumed to be the same as in a single alkali activation system, and the low corrosiveness of weak alkalis has mainly been emphasized. However, the intrinsic roles of the individual alkalis should be understood in detail and redefined to illuminate the activation pathways from the perspective of internal chemical reactions rather than corrosiveness.

In solid-state NMR, dipolar-based heteronuclear polarization transfer has been extensively used for sensitivity enhancement and multidimensional correlations, but its efficiency often suffers from undesired spin interactions and hardware limitations. Herein, we propose a novel dipolar-echo edited R-symmetry (DEER) sequence, which is further incorporated into the INEPT-type scheme, dubbed DEER-INEPT, for achieving highly efficient heteronuclear polarization transfer. Numerical simulations and NMR experiments demonstrate that DEER-INEPT offers significantly improved robustness, enabling efficient polarization transfer under a wide range of MAS conditions, from slow to ultrafast rates, outperforming existing methods.

Non-centrosymmetric (NCS) compounds can exhibit many symmetry-dependent functional properties, yet their rational structure design remains a great challenge. Herein, a strategy to introduce F-centered octahedra to construct a perovskite-type framework filled by π-conjugated [BO] dimers is proposed to obtain NCS compounds. The first examples of antiperovskite or double antiperovskite borate fluorides, [(M/Ba)Ca]F[BO] (M = K, Rb) and [CsBaCa]F[BO], have been successfully designed and synthesized.

The prevalence of naphthalene compounds in biologically active natural products, organic ligands and approved drugs has motivated investigators to develop efficient strategies for their selective synthesis. C-H functionalization of naphthalene has been frequently deployed, but mainly involves two-component reactions, while multiple-component C-H functionalization for the synthesis of naphthalene compounds has thus far proven elusive. Herein, we disclose a versatile three-component protocol for the modular synthesis of multifunctional naphthalenes from readily available simple naphthalenes, olefins and alkyl bromides P(iii)-assisted ruthenium-catalyzed remote C-H functionalization.

Here, we report a water-induced supramolecular polymer adhesive formed from confined water and an intrinsically amphiphilic macrocyclic self-assembly in a nanophase-separated structure. The selenium-containing crown ether macrocycle, featuring a strong hydrophilic hydrogen-bond receptor (selenoxide) and a synergistic hydrophobic selenium-substituted crown core, confines water within a segregated, interdigitated architecture. While water molecules typically freeze around 0 °C, the confined water in this supramolecular polymer remains in a liquid-like state down to -80 °C.
