Multiple cytokine responses in discriminating between active tuberculosis and latent tuberculosis infection.

Background: Cytokines play an important role in cell-mediated immune responses against Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) infection. Cytokine profile specifically associated with active tuberculosis (ATB) patients, subjects with latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) and non-infected individuals remains to be determined.

Methods: We enrolled a total of 92 subjects including patients with ATB (n = 25), LTBI (n = 36) and healthy controls (HC, n = 31) to investigate the cytokine production by peripheral blood mononuclear cells after Mtb purified protein derivative (PPD) stimulation which was evaluated by a beads-based multiplex assay system.

Design, synthesis, biological evaluation, and molecular docking studies of quinolone derivatives as potential antitumor topoisomerase I inhibitors.

A novel series of quinolone derivatives (6a-n) were designed and synthesized, and their biological activities were evaluated as potential antitumor topoisomerase I (Top I) inhibitors. Among these compounds, 6j exhibited the most potent antitumor activities against multiple cancer cell lines. Docking simulation was performed to insert compound 6j into the crystal structure of DNA-Top I to determine the probable binding model.

[Case-control study on clinical effects of arthroscopic single-versus double-bundle ACLs reconstructions].

Objective: To compare the clinical results of arthroscopic single and double-bundle ACLs reconstructions.

Methods: From January 2009 to May 2010,45 patients with anterior cruciate ligament tear were divided into two groups. In the first group,the anterior cruciate ligament were anatomical reconstructed with double-bundle semitendinous tendon, and in the second group the anterior cruciate ligaments were anatomical reconstrucated with single bundle semitendinous tendon.

Methods: Thirteen patients with diastasis of the symphysis pubis, including 7 male and 6 female, ranging in age from 20 to 54 years,were treated according to classification based on the pelvic stability. Five patients of type I were treated with conservative methods, five patients of type II were treated with external fixation, and three patients with type III were treated with posterior internal fixation combined with anterior external fixation.

[Study on applying principle component analysis to data processing on chromatographic fingerprints for Pinellia Cum Bile].

Objective: To explore the utility of principle component analysis (PCA) on chromatographic data for quality control to Dannanxing (Pinellia Cum Bile).

Method: Chromatographic fingerprints of sample were determined by TLC, PCA and multivariat analysis were used for data processing.

Result: The quantitative differences among samples procesed with different biles and heating time were found with the method.
