Perceptions of caring in China: patient and nurse questionnaire survey.

Background: The concept of caring is important to both patients and nurses. If patients and nurses perceive caring behaviours differently, patients may not have their needs met or will be dissatisfied with the nursing.

Aim: This study conducted in mainland China compared the perceptions of nurses and patients concerning nurses' caring behaviours.

Hipbone biomechanical finite element analysis and clinical study after the resection of ischiopubic tumors.

Objective: To investigate the changes of hipbone biomechanics after the resection of ischiopubic tumors and their relationships with the complications in the convalescent stage, and directing the postoperative pelvic reconstruction.

Methods: DICOM data were used to create an intact hipbone finite element model and postoperative model. The biomechanical indices on the same region in the two models under the same boundary condition were compared.

Apelin receptor (APJ) deficiency has been reported to be preventive against atherosclerosis. However, the mechanism of this effect remains unknown. In this study, quantitative real-time RT-PCR, Western blotting and ELISA analyses revealed a significant increase in the expression of intercellular adhesion molecule-1(ICAM-1), vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1) and monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1) in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) treated with apelin.

[Detection of serum Epstein-Barr virus antibody level by ELISA in normal populations and nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients in Zhongshan City of China].

Objective: To understand the distribution of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) antibodies, namely EBNA 1/IgA, ZEBRA/IgA, EBNA 1/IgG in the populations of different ages or genders in Zhongshan City of Guangdong Province, China.

Method: A total of 484 serum samples were obtained from the population of Zhongshan City including 16 patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) and were assayed with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for EBV antibodies.

Results: The serum antibody level of EBNA1/IgA, represented by its relative optical density value abbreviated as D(lambda), was 0.
