Objectives: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most common malignant tumors and the third cause of cancer death worldwide. The development of HCC is a multi-pathway regulated process including a variety of genetic mutations and variations.
Materials And Methods: To get an insight into the overall genetic aberration, we analyzed the gene expression profile of 9 HCC samples and 9 normal liver tissues as control.

Background: Drug-eluting stents (DES) with durable polymer have significantly reduced restenosis and target vessel revascularization compared with bare metal stents. Durable polymer has been linked with persistent inflammation of vessel wall and delayed endothelial healing that may increase the risk of late and very late stent thrombosis. This study sought to evaluate the efficacy and safety of HELIOS completed biodegradable polymer sirolimus-eluting stent (SES) in de novo coronary lesions.

Autophagy, a conservative degradation process for long-lived and damaged proteins, participates in a variety of biological processes including obesity. However, the precise mechanism of action behind obesity-induced changes in autophagy still remains elusive. This study was designed to examine the role of the antioxidant catalase in high fat diet-induced changes in cardiac geometry and function as well as the underlying mechanism of action involved with a focus on autophagy.

Objective: To explore the therapeutic methods of fracture and dislocation of coccyx and evaluate its curative effects.
Methods: From May 2002 to March 2010,56 patients with fracture and dislocation of coccyx were divided into surgical treatment group and non-surgical treatment group. There were 7 males and 20 females in surgical treatment group with an average age of (48.

Objective: To investigate the effects of the over-expression of hypoxia-inducible factor-1alpha (HIF-1alpha) on the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and invasive potency of LNCaP cells in vitro and in vivo.
Methods: We cultured LNCaP cells stably expressing HIF-1alpha (LNCaP/HIF-1alpha) and LNCaP cells, identified the over-expression of HIF-1alpha, determined the proliferation of the two cell lines by MTT assay and the level of PSA in the supernatant of culture medium, and detected the anchorage independent growth by soft-agar colony formation assay. A subcutaneous tumor model was established in nude mice by injecting LNCaP/HIF-1alpha and LNCaP cells followed by observation of the tumor growth.

Objective: To compare the efficacy and complications of the Shang Ring circumcision with those of conventional surgical procedures.
Methods: A total of 724 patients, 521 with redundant prepuce and 203 with phimosis, were randomly assigned to receive the Shang Ring circumcision (n = 402) and conventional surgical procedures (n = 322). Comparisons were made between the two groups in the surgical duration, blood loss, pain score, as well as postoperative complications, satisfaction with the penile appearance, and the quality of sexual life.

Objective: To investigate the expression of heparin-binding epidermal growth factor-like growth factor (HB-EGF) in patients with gastric carcinoma in different stages.
Methods: The expressions of HB-EGF protein and mRNA in normal gastric tissues, metaplasic intestinal mucosa, early-stage gastric cancer and advanced-stage gastric cancer tissues were detected by immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization.
Results: HB-EGF expression was only detected in the parietal cells of the gastric fundic glands and in gastrin cells of the pyloric glands in normal gastric tissues.

Objective: To observe whether the dopaminergic neuroprotective effect of (-)-epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) is associated with its inhibition of microglial cell activation in vivo.
Methods: The effects of EGCG at different doses on dopaminergic neuronal survival were tested in a methyl-4-phenyl-pyridinium (MPP+)-induced dopaminergic neuronal injury model in the primary mesencephalic cell cultures. With unbiased stereological method, tyrosine hydroxylase-immunoreactive (TH-ir) cells were counted in the A8, A9 and A10 regions of the substantia nigra (SN) in 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP)-treated C57BL/6 mice.
